I'm excited for this year. I'm even more excited for a lineup of Irving/Brown/Hayward/Tatum/Horford next year (even if that closes games rather than starts them).

Very new here I may have posted once years ago. But Kyrie is better defensively than Thomas, is several years younger, and can carry an offense just as well. If Tatum and brown take a few years to develop into great players/stars, and even if they don't,  he fits our timetable much better long term. Until the younger wings are ready, he can carry the load. And they'll have time playing together and Kyrie will just be reaching his prime after a few years of continuity. There were questions of whether or not Isaiah deserved the max, kyrie definetely does. And while horford has been a great addition, Irving will be just reaching his prime when his contracts up and we could afford to add a much better third wheel. So while this year we may not make leaps and bounds forward, this is a minimal risk move that solidifies our future. I hate the cost but I'm all for the move. And he may have not even peaked yet.

I couldn't be less whelmed if I tried.

One thing's for sure: we better hope Jayson Tatum turns into the best player of not only this year's, but also next year's draft, or Danny's head should end up on a pike. You might be able to talk me into tar and feather, though.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Well we do have the Lakers pick in 18, so imo Tatum being a best player in the 17 draft would be good enough for me, Bagley and Porter are tough to beat lol, and we'd still have a shot a adding a young big if we have some lottery luck.

Was against the trade but I'd be lying to you if I told I wasn't excited about the possibility of having Irving around for the next 7 years. He's a dynamic offensive player and he's legit the king of making gut punch shots (aka the ones where you've played great defense and think he's got zero chance of scoring but yet somehow puts in a ridiculous shot). I think Stevens can unlock another level to him like he did with Thomas.

That being said, I'll miss IT and feel bad for how this injury/transaction have hurt his value. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the little guy.

Getting tougher to get hyped the longer the trade is in limbo.

he has that paul pierce ability to make buzzer beaters and game winning clutch shots when it counts most.

This is going to be a bloodbath.  Kyrie has faced adversity exactly once in his career -losing the 2016-2017 NBA finals - and reacted by forcing a trade.

How do you think he's going to handle being constantly compared to the diminutive folk-hero whose shoes he's going to struggle to fill?

When they take a step back and win 44 games this season, and he misses games due to injuries that IT would have played through the rabid Boston fan base and media are going to eat him alive.

Hey, Mrs. Thomas

The Cleveland board is that way
