Kind of a stiff. Was hoping for Bogut.
Might still get Bogut on a vet min deal if they really wanted to

His career defensive rebounding % is 21% which is slightly less than Sullinger's, but far better than anyone on the Cs. Has a below average 56% TS% for a big (but much better than Sullinger), and can sink FTs (81%). Decent defensive +/- numbers and winshares. Offensively limited and plays within 10 feet of the basket only.

I'm salivating at this lineup...

IT4
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Baynes

Tell me that team demolishes the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 7-game series.

That team gets demolished by Cleveland in a (less than) 7-game series.

I'd go with

IT
Smart
Hayward
Horford
Baynes

Then off the bench

Rozier
Brown
Tatum
Morris
Yabu/Zizic who ever gets it first

Cleveland can't keep up with those line ups. Too old. You can even switch Baynes with Morris if you need to. I can see Stevens doing a two in two out and just constantly running them into the ground.

I actually like this team against GSW too. It will be tough, but one thing we have better than what GSW has....Coaching. LOL Walton kinda proved how fool proof GSW are in that department.

As it stands now, we have 14 players under contract for the upcoming season.

PG: IT, Rozier, Jackson
SG: Smart, Jaylen,
SF: Hayward, Crowder, Tatum
PF: Morris, Daniel Theis, Mickey
C: Horford, Baynes, Zizic

It will be interesting to see who's going to get the final spot on our roster.

I fully expect Mickey and Jackson to be cut or traded. We are not going to waste roster spots on them this season now that we are legitimately trying to make the NBA finals.
I hope they are gone too. Rather give the two spots to Semi/Yabusele and Nader rather than wasting them on Jackson and Mickey.

I think this is your opening day roster.  Nader has a lot of promise.  And Semi could be the steal of the second round.

He's big, relatively injury-free and rebounds well enough. Seems like a solid move at a position of need and the contract is great.

This was a total head-scratcher for me, until I saw his career 81% FT%, then watched the YouTube highlights vs OKC posted earlier in the thread:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9AzWGmhCfY

He is not a stiff, actually very smooth operator near the rim, and can hit a 15-foot jumper.  Essentially, this is exactly what we were hoping for from Zizic.

The backdown of Sabonis on the post shows his strength.

According to Detroit Bad Boys, a Pistons fan responded to me...

"You'll love Baynes.
And please carry his legacy onto your board.
You shall call him Lobster-Hands.
Other than his lobstery hands:
He has great positioning, he is a vocal leader on D, he always stays vertical when he contests shots at the rim ( and opponents usually end up on their butts ), he sets the meanest screen in all of basketball, he can operate at the elbow (which i’m sure Stevens will love ) and
when he is not rocking the man bun ( * cringe * )
he has the highest head-rubs/36 in the NBA."

Sounds like we got an even better Kendrick Perkins?  8)

Baynes didn't play much when he was with San Antiono but I remember him from those teams. I wanted the Celtics to grab him before the Pistons got him. He's a good, smart, tough player. It looks like Danny thinks this team is ready. He's adding the players that everyone wanted last year. This team is a contender...

Love this signing!  Short deal for a big that rebounds and hits his free throws.

I agree. I think it's a good signing, especially at that price.
