Among guys playing 1000 minutes, Baynes was:

#3 in the NBA in "screen assists" per minute;

#4 (tied) in the NBA in charges taken per minute;

#12 in the NBA in contested 2PT shots per minute

Those are very impressive "little things" that help win games.

We have a final roster now, right?

Thomas/Rozier/Nader
Smart/Brown/Ojeleye
Hayward/Tatum/Yabusele
Morris/Crowder/Theis
Horford/Baynes/Zizic

Allen and Bird on two-way contracts

Psyched for training camp and preseason.
Did the Bradley trade open up enough space to sign Yabu? Last I heard he had to be stashed another year to open up enough space to sign Hayward.

Assuming Mickey is released, yes, we have enough room, and don't need to do anything with Jackson cap-wise.  We can give Ojeleye a 4-year deal that starts at just above the minimum in year 1.
TP thanks, salty.

No problem.  For the Nader fans/Jackson haters, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'm 95% certain that if Jackson is traded there would be enough space to sign both Ojeleye and Nader to 4-year deals.

What does Nader have to do to earn a shot to make a roster? Seems like he has done that more than a number of the players the Celtics have carried over the years.

There are some people that don't realize how good Hayward is. They'll find out real quick though lol
That, or he'll end up like Horford.

Okafor went for about 12, 4, 1, and 1 block in less than 23 minutes a game with over 51% shooting on a bad knee and he's 21.

The year before that when he was 20 and healthy his stats were 17 and 7

If Tatum goes for 12, 4, and 1 this year on 51% shooting people will throw him a parade. Same for Zizic

For the 4.3mil he is fine, good actually.  He isn't going to start unless of an injury, he won't be playing huge minutes, and he is good for us to be able to match up with larger teams who have killed us inside before.  I like the signing.  Our team is rounding out pretty well.  AB is going to be missed and guys are going to need to step up on d on the perimeter.

I believe there will be several better players that will sign for similar or lesser amounts and many that will do better for less this year.

I agree he's a backup center.

I would admit Ainge didn't get a horrible deal by any means. Amir Johnson for 11mill is a joke compared to this.

I would guess Ainge made calls to better players and it didn't work out and that surprises me. Usually players are more than happy to sign on to teams that are clearly in line for a top 2 seed, but he didn't pull it out.

...and Zizic had a strong game tonite in win against Portland: 9/11 with 4 blocks.

Could be the kid is just getting his feet wet. He and Baynes give them some depth up front.

Okafor is a project who currently hurts more than he helps. I'd like to have him here as a developmental player, but right now Baynes isn't a liability, and Okafor is.

Regardless, me never could have used the room exception on Okafor, and Philly seems to be holding onto him.

I think Nader is close to a lock to making the team.  You have 4 guys on the SL team that will make the team Jaylen, Jason, Zizic, and Nader.   Semi might be in there too I guess.  Maybe he starts the year in Maine.

If Tatum plays similar defence to Jahlil (none) then people will crucify him just like they crucify Harden, IT and Melo for not being good defenders.

Jahlil Okafor sucks, man.

So then people have to admit he's not available for free and he's not some NBA degenerate big man version of Jimmer. He's far more ready to help a team today (if healthy and I think he will be) than Zizic or Semi or Yab

Oh yeah. Harden and IT get crucified all the time. In between when they're signing max contracts. Because offense wins in the NBA.

I have no idea why people are excited about a guy who will be sitting on the bench.
