With Brown and Smart potentially starting at the 2, no way we are as good as we could have been with Bradley. Signing a star and then making a luxury tax move is just stupid. If GS can have that team, we can keep Avery.

Going into the luxury tax when you are still another piece away from battling GS would be foolish. The luxury tax is there for a reason, and not the reason the Portlands of the world think it is.

Just was comparing Morris and Bradley. Morris had more 30 point + games than Bradley(2-1), more 20-29 point games than Bradley(14-11), more 5-14 rebounds games(38-36), and more 1-2 blocks games(17-11), and more 3-4 blocks games(2-0).

Morris will be a good addition. Its a trade that had to be made for current cap space needs and future luxury tax avoidance. Morris' contract is good value for two years and then he will be replaced by Tatum, if Tatum doesn't surpass him this year, which is a distinct possibility
So you're comparing a 6'9 forward to a 6'3 guard and the fact that they're essentially a wash in 5-14 rebound games is somehow good? LOL.
Thats last years numbers where Morris played with the league's best rebounder and Bradley had a career year in rebounds. If you look at the numbers from two years ago Morris had 41 5-14 round games to Bradley's 17.

A lot easier to take the luxury bill for arguably the greatest team of all time.

Pretty good counter point there. Playing next to drummond definitely deflated Morris' rebounding numbers

Sure, I'll stipulate that this had some effect. In fact, looking at bballreference, he his TRB% was 10 in PHO vs 8 in DET. This in turn meant averaging 6.5 rp36 instead of 5.

So sure, maybe his rebounding will go from atrocious to simply mediocre. But he's probably still a downgrade from Olynyk and Amir.

The strange part of the trade is us including a 2019 2nd rounder.  Which 2nd rounder is it?

Is this a confirmed trade yet? Still finding it difficult to believe it will happen, kinda assumed Bradley was a lifer.

Both teams have publicly announced it, so yeah. It's a done deal.

Man....man.

My boy for a freaking Morris Twin.

This is getting ridiculous. It's like the FO has a to-do list of "things that p--- of Casperian".
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Morris is a good fit as a PF who can hit 3's in Brads system.

I hope so. He regressed last year in Detroit to 33% on 4.5 attempts/game. Yuck.

And his rebounding is poor. His TRB is way below Amir or Al - 8.9% last year.  (Yes, you read that right, and it's not an aberration.)

Hope Brad can unlock something, but on paper he looks like a rotation player who shouldn't crack the starting rotation on a playoff team.
He's not a great rebounder and he's not a good player really, but the rebounding rate is a tad misleading.

Amir was competing for rebounds with Kelly Olynyk and Al Horford. Morris was competing with Andre Drummond. Morris isn't a good rebounder at all but he's less pitiful than his numbers suggest.

TP for one of the best sentences, intentional or not, in the history of CelticsBlog, lol ;D.

Marcus Morris : ugggghhhhh 14ppg and 5rpg

And read below from wikipedia ... particularly note pending court date.
On February 26, 2012, after seeing the final Border War basketball match between Kansas and Missouri, Morris and another assailant named Julius K. Harris received battery charges for punching a man that was an employee for a bar and nightclub in Lawrence, Kansas called The Cave. Both Morris and Harris entered a diversion agreement for the battery charge, with Marcus paying a $300 diversion fee and $60 for court case fees, as well as agreeing not to come in contact with both the victim and The Cave for an entire year.[28]

On January 24, 2015, both Marcus and Markieff Morris found themselves involved with two aggravated assault cases as five different men (including the twins and former Baltimore Ravens safety Gerald Bowman) allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old man named Eric Hood outside of the Nina Mason Pulliam Recreation Center in Phoenix, Arizona.[29] Hood had previously mentored the Morris twins from high school until the end of their college careers, while the brothers wound up beating Hood up for "sending an inappropriate text message" to their mother. While the case against the Morris brothers was first set up on August 3, 2015;[30] the trial for the twins is still ongoing for the latest court date being settled on August 21, 2017, thanks to his twin brother playing in the NBA playoffs on the original court date of April 28.[31][32] The incident was not only considered a catalyst for the Suns trading Marcus to the Pistons on July 9, 2015;[33] but it was also one of the reasons why the Suns eventually traded his twin brother to the Washington Wizards over eight months later on February 18, 2016.[34]

Went to college with the Twins.  All I can say is buckle up!

I'm ready for story time, lol ;D.

Stevens is trying to switch everything on defense and have guys 6'7 to 6'10 that can do multiple things. I'm not sure about our backcourt defense.

I would like to bring in Tony Allen and Jamal Crawford to help defense and scoring off the bench.

Yeah, he's really got to stop doing that, lol ;D. Ugh.

Morris has never been a good rebounder. Using defensive rebounding% per Basketball-reference.com as a benchmark for rebounding prowess (offensive rebounding is influenced by a team's scheme):

Morris 14.7 HOU
Morris 15.6 PHX
Morris 12.6 DET
Morris 14.0 Career
Morris 16.9 Best season

KO 18.1 Career
KO 20.7 Best season

AJ 18.6 Career
AJ 23.2 Best season
