I don't get the front page article's contention that trading Crowder is a curious move. It makes perfect sense.

Crowder doesn't add much value once you factor in Hayward and the young guys. He's an ok defender whose only real offense is spot up shooting. More importantly, Crowder will not handle a reduced role very well, especially not for Hayward. IMO, Crowder would have to go even if salaries were a complete non-issue.

That we're trading him first instead of the two guys on short contracts peaks volumes.

Completely agree. Crowder played a lot of matador defense late last season and during the playoffs, there was a noticeable drop off in his effort on that side of the floor. He also doesn't fit the team culture, he's too emotional and reacts poorly when his teammates make mistakes. I got the impression that he never really bought in to the culture that we have established.
Come on man he helped turn the culture around when he got here. You guys are too much sometimes, he did slip some last year but it is what he is he's just not that good. He's a good bench guy but you're expecting too much out of him.

Just a 3 and D guy with tons of heart.

The 3 and D is worth the MLE, which is consistent with his contract, making it an okay but not especially good deal based on skills and role.

Apparently, his value to fans is in "heart" more than anything, and somehow that, like, should make him worth double or triple the salary. That's crap. Just like with the infatuation with Smart, who is a specialist with heart. Those are MLE players. They can come and go.

It would be worthwhile if a deal opens up space to sign an impact big or brings one back somehow. So it would have to give Gord his max, plus about $10M to have enough room.

So, I'd let Crowder and Smart go, but would have hoped to swing a trade with them plus picks for an impact big. If Danny goes for space instead, I'm cool with it.

It's hard to see us getting much back if this sign-and-trade rumor is true. There's just no logical return from Utah.  They won't be trading Hood, we don't need Exum, and the idea of aggregating players for a bigger salary (Favors?) seems like a pipe dream.  None of their draft picks are particularly attractive.

Why is Rozier saying "here today, gone tomorrow" on Instagram.

terry gone?

Rozier isn't a core player. Would rather see him gone than Crowder. Terry had some good playoff games and could be trade bait.

C's depth at the 4 goes to virtually zero if Crowder goes.    Doesn't make sense unless they get a starting 4 back that earns less than Crowder.   Does that player even exist?

They've had two games to look at Zizic, which is good reason to keep Crowder. The kid isn't quite ready yet.

Wrong both Tatum and Gordon can play the four.   None of them are ideal but neither is Crowder.   Do you think he is a solid four, because you ought to become a writer if you are posting this because it is some great fiction.

Our depth at the 4 is a zero even if he stays... Crowder is a wing in our system not a big. We need BIGS!!!!

further, it seems to me that the celtics are building a team for the future, not next season when lebron still rules the east.

if the team has a weak spot or is thin on the bench, i can live with that more than selling future for a season when the team may not get out of the east.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Tatum is a 210 rookie.   Maybe if the other team is tiny.   Gordon can play some 4.   For 48min?   Nah.    Great post buddy.

As it stands, he's the best we have, whether its ideal or not.   How do you we get someone better for less money?

Too easy then.   Get on the phones Danny.   Should have it wrapped up by tomorrow.
