I really don't get it.

Does no one from the league want Jae Crowder? Isn't his salary clearing alone would be enough to make room for a Gordon Hayward max? Or am I wrong?

Assuming I'm right, there's really no one that would want a starting quality SF making close to MLE money? Not even a heavily protected 1st? If we include him on an SNT, we basically traded him for nothing in return.

Dude, they want Crowder. Danny's just exploring all the options and waiting out the best deals.

He's not working in haste like a certain Eastern Conference GM did with a rental.  :P

And now there's a possible sign and trade that could happen with Utah. Buckle up.

Hope that's the case, as I really think a sign and trade makes no sense, unless we are signing GH for 5 years.

K.O. would have to agree to be traded to Utah as now that his qualifying offer has been rescinded he is free to sign wherever he wants.  He can bring back up to 50% of the amount he is signed for in a sign and trade though, if signed for 18 mill. could bring back 9 mill., at least that's how I understand it.  Don't know for sure the rules on being traded with other players?

Teams know one has to move so low ball offers.

Take the 'have to trade' away,  expect better offers.

I'd take a low ball offer than lose a player for nothing, which is exactly what will happen on a sign and trade.

I suppose in theory we'd be able to sign and trade KO since we have cap space before adding Hayward correct?

We renounced KO I thought.

I guess not. KO sign and trade is still possible:

Also, according to the transaction wire, the Celtics rescinded Kelly Olynyk's qualifying offer, but did NOT renounce him. This is important."

The Jazz have quite a bit of interest in KO apparently, too.

I'd still like to see Favors attached to the deal somehow, though, because we're still going to need a starting PF. Something like:

Boston: Hayward S&T, Favors

Utah: KO S&T, Crowder, and Bradley (or he could be rerouted to another team)

yeah

Naw, no Favors please... too much salary to eat also

To Jazz:  KO (S &T),  Smart (S & T)
To Celtics:  Hayward (S &T) ,  Tony Bradley

is this possible?

If Utah will take Smart, that's all that needs to be done in a S&T. Now Hayward would have to agree to 5 years verses 4 years. I think he wants the 3+1 so he can become a FA again.

I'd much, much rather give up Crowder than Smart.

This is the only reason it makes sense for us to do a sign and trade, otherwise, why not just trade Smart to another team for a draft pick?

Since when does Ainge give away players for nothing?

I am sure the Jazz would have have to offer something for Rozier.

Can you explain why salaries don't have to match?

This is not how a sign and trade works. This is an example of the info given out on the SL broadcast I've been pleading with people to ignore. You CANNOT get a fifth year through a S&T.

confused about this...Why can't Hayward sign 3+1 with the Jazz? Or a 2 or even 1 year

why does it need to be a 5 year max?

Wouldn't we still be under the cap in this scenario? Salaries don't have to match if you are under the cap.
