A S&T for Rozier+DJax after waiving Mickey and stashing Yabusele works w/o Smart/AB/Jae moving

For everyone asking the question: You do not have to match salaries in a trade if you're under the cap at the end of the trade

https://twitter.com/dangercart/status/882765250973585408

Maybe it explains why Jackson didn't play tonight if something is in the works.  I would think though that Rozier has some value around the league.  Why not see if we can get a heavily protected first, or at least a second round pick somewhere else rather than trading him for nothing here.  Doesn't make sense.

You can go back in this thread if you want a more in depth answer, but the simple explanation is that dumping Rozier's salary is only enough if he goes to Utah. Dumping him to anyone else, even for no salary in return, doesn't work.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

true...wasn't there a rumor last trade deadline that the Magic wanted Rozier and a future 1st for Ibaka?

If KO (S&T) and Smart (S&T) for Hayward and Tony Bradley is possible...  Danny should pull the trigger

I rather keep Crowder and AB.

Horford
Crowder
Hayward
AB
IT4

Bradley
Tatum
Brown
Mid Level Exception
Rozier
Both Smart and K.O. would have to agree to do this.  You would probably have to significantly over pay them to get them to agree.  The Jazz won't be able to take back more than maybe 25 million in this scenario, very unlikely.

Smart and Crowder are the two odd guys out.

Rozier is a cheaper bench option for backup PG minutes.

Crowder was replaced, and with young studs in the barn, he's the odd guy out.

AB is only out if someone else is ready to start, so no.

So I'm looking to move Smart and Crowder. Want a big.

ok , you made your point

but we don't know if Danny prefers to keep the cost controlled Rozier over Smart or even Crowder

I would also try to sign and trade KO  and try to get something back in return.  Thats if KO agrees to all of this and wouldn't mind playing for the Jazz

pretty hefty loss...  two core defenders gone just like that

Yeah, that's the question. Does Danny prefer Rozier and whatever he can get for Smart, Crowder, or Bradley, or would he prefer to keep those guys and lose Rozier?

My deal going to the Jazz is S&T Olynyk, Bradley, Rozier for Favors and Hayward then sign Tyreke Evans with the MLE to come off the bench.

what is it about Favors you like?

he is lazy and has an inconsistent motor.... he will mess up on defensive plays  ... it will drive CBS crazy

Ryan Bernardoni‏ @dangercart

This* does not mean it's the "right" move. It would probably mean losing Rozier for nothing, and his cost control has value. What it does is give BOS LEVERAGE in any negotiation. At the very least, Utah does that. If you can get a GOOD offer for Smart/AB/Jae, fine.

*Rozier + Jackson for Hayward

This makes no sense. The Celtics aren't just going to gift Crowder to the Jazz because they feel bad.

We still can't keep AB, Smart and Crowder because we still need some bigs.

We could still get Faried, O'Quinn, Vucevic.
