Another hustle guy that can't shoot,

This stupid notion has to die. He shoots better than Tatum in every way except the free throw line.

So he can't hit the easiest shot in the game? That leads you to believe he can shoot? I'm going by what I have read on many sites but they could all be wrong.

Kansas is my old mans favorite team. They are the only team I watched in tournament because I was with him. He kept talking up Jackson and every game I left unimpressed and said he's not even the best player on the team Fox is. Fox is fast and got by people with ease and put the ball in the basket. Eventually the old man had to admit Fox was better. Now I know that doesn't translate to the NBA so it's anyone's guess from here.

And down goes all of your credibility, Kansas and Kentucky are different teams.  Are you misremembering?

I agree that I don't want Jackson but there was nobody better in that Kansas team.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

I agree that Jackson is the best NBA prospect from that KU team.

But, someone could argue that the AP and Naismith award winner and national player of the year Frank Mason III was.

I personally think it's a terrific move to pass on a transcendent offensive player to draft yet another player because they play, "NBA ready defense."

Justise Winslow shot .418 from 3 in college on a slightly greater number of attempts

He shoots .258 from 3 in the NBA

He shot .641 from the FT line in college and shoots .665 in the pros.

It's often stated on these boards that college FT% is the best predictor of NBA 3 point success (no idea if this is true since I've never seen the study that correlates the two stats)

I have no idea if Jackson's shooting will be a problem or not, but I'm surprised that his FT% and the fact that he terrorized a woman in college and left the scene of an accident weren't considered more serious red flags than Fultz's record with the notoriously poorly coached Huskies (although they were particularly terrible in his only year).

Fultz shot 64.9% from the free-throw line...

When did Fox go from Kentucky to Kansas to be a better player than Jackson?

The leaks came from Philly. The Celtics have been screwed before by leaks--remember the Clippers--Doc and KG, etc. That was a west coast leak of a rumor, which Stein used as an excuse to ban any dealing between the two teams for a year. He used the MF media leak as evidence! That's how the media can really screw a team. And that's why this thing shouldn't have seen the light of day until draft night. Philly leaked it, and they must have had their reasons.

What if Philly does something stupid like draft Jackson?

I think this year the Cs office is the stupid one.

On the other hand, you have chosen to ignore 3 point shooting and FT shooting for these two players. Why? That clearly seems to be the more egregious of the two oversights.

Jackson shot 47 percent from three over the past two months. He improved over his early woes.

Also, please check out his free throw shooting month by month and you see a steady improvement. 19 year olds can improve their shooting.

Besides, ainge may choose Tatum and create yet one more Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. storm here. Ha, ha.  ;D

Jackson shot 90 threes last year. If you think he's even a competent shooter due to his percentages on 90 attempts, you're insane.
But would not the reverse be true as well? Given such a sss how could we declare with confidence that he cannot shoot threes?

Durant was a terrible free throw shooter college.  So theory dead!

Sure, if the theory was "people who are poor free throw shooters in college are always poor shooters in the NBA", but it's not. The fact is that better free throw shooting in college correlates positively with better 3pt shooting in the NBA (and correlates better than college 3p% does). One outlier doesn't disprove it, it's a statistical relationship. It doesnt give a firm prediction for how someone will shoot, either, but it does give you an idea of how shooting translates (ie. you're probably better off going with someone that was a poor 3p shooter but good ft shooter than a good 3p shooter but poor ft shooter. It won't always be right, but it will be right more often than its wrong)
I'm bitter.

81.6% is terrible? A bit better than Jackson by a mile.
