Mostly because I want to hear Tommy yelling "The ZINGER" for a few years.

I thought about this a little after re-reading some of late-season rumors. I would move Markelle (who I think will be great) for KP and #8.

My thought is that I like 8 players in this draft enough to take the risk. Worst case one of the PGs falls to #8. Best case, Tatum falls. Rolling out a lineup of:

IT
AB
Hayward
Horford
KP

with Brown/Smart/Crowder/#8 off the bench is really enticing. We'd have to score a free agent big but I'd be very excited to watch that team.

Not sure NYK would do it, but Fultz is a good enough prospect to make them think about it.

Fair trade imo, the Zinger is really overrated, he's elite at rim protection and shooting but he really isn't that volume scorer we need. Also isn't a carom vacuum cleaner (literally translated it from a Cantonese term in HK that we use to call good rebounders lol). I think we'd have to add someone like KO though for the Knicks to take the trade (he'll be gone anyways)

I would do it.

Use #8 to draft either Isaac (if he is still on the board) or Ntilikina.

Don't believe NY would do it though. Would you do #1+Crowder for Porzingis + #8?

Add in O'Quinn for our 56 and 58 picks and deal. We can sign a good SF in free agency ala Rudy Gay on a short term payday.

I doubt the Knicks would trade the Unicorn for the #1 straight up, nevermind also including their lottery pick.
The short answer is Yes we do this trade, the realistic answer is the Knicks hang up the phone.

This isn't a realistic trade at all and probably not fair either.  I mean the Wolves traded an expiring contract for the #1, the prior #1, and a future 1st.  I get that Love had proven more than Porzingis had, but Love was older, more injury prone, and as indicated an expiring contract.  There is no way the Knicks trade the Zinger for 1 straight up, including 8 makes it a highway robbery.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Kevin Love was putting up unprecedented numbered. He was viewed as a top-10 player in the league. Porzingis is a pretty good prospect who does not project to be anywhere near that good.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Yes.  If we're getting Hayward in free agency, Crowder becomes superfluous.  Porzingiz would be a great fit.  If we lucked out getting Isaac too that would be a wonderful trade but Ntilikina would be a nice addition too.  He's really not a lead PG but an off-ball, defensive oriented guard.  He'd be a good fit with IT.

Pass. I think KP is quite overrated, and Fultz will likely pan out the better player, assuming all goes well. Kristaps is very good at blocking/impacting shots and knocking down long jump shots, but he's also a mediocre rebounder and isn't a legit prolific scorer, which is something we desperately need.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

Love was obviously better than Porzingis at the time of the trade, but he also averaged 14 and 11 in his 2nd year, and was looking more like a rebounder and ok scorer rather than an elite level scorer.  Love is also a below average defender now, but back then was downright terrible.  Put it this way in 2 seasons Porzingis has 264 blocks.  In 9 seasons, Love has 275.  Love is a better rebounder, might be a better passer, but I'd take Porzingis everywhere else (especially when you look at their first 2 seasons).  You also, can't just gloss over that Love was a max contract player in the last year of his contract, while Zinger is on a rookie deal for a couple of more seasons.  And I know we are all in love with Fultz, but Wiggins was thought of more highly than Fultz before that draft.  Wiggins obviously hasn't lived up to that hype, but there is no guarantee Fultz will either.

there is no way the Knicks trade Porzingis for Fultz, unless the Knicks are getting a lot more value back (which could be the removal of Noah's contract from their books, additional firsts or young players, etc.).

Knicks would not trade Zinger for 1, and you want to insult them by adding in the 8?

Dream on.

good deal in he near term fr C's .....doubt NY bites ...

I voted NO

because Im betting Fultz will be a true star top 12-20 player in 5 years replacing the aging stars of today.

just my gamble .
