Celtics have no chance to be better than Cleveland or GS in the next 5 years so trading away picks for guys like George or butler would be devastating
We already have so many young players and picks, I don't see any problem in giving some of them for player like Butler, who's btw. also 27, not an old veteran.
Im not sure this is true.
We have a lot of middling young guys and picks:
Yabusele, Rozier, Clippers pick, Memphis pick future Celtics picks, assorted second rounders
we have a few solid young players and picks:
Zizic and Smart
We have exactly 3 great young players and picks
Jaylen Brown, #1 overall, '18 Nets pick
We dont have enough great young players and picks to just give any of them away. Our future is built primarily around those three guys.
If you can get Jimmy Butler with some collection of Zizic's and Smart's and Rozier's and second rounders, than I will most likely be willing to sacrifice some of the future for a veteran like Jimmy Butler. I just dont think you are gonna be able to get Jimmy without giving up a great future asset and we DONT have a surplus of those. We have a surplus of middling future assets.
