We really need to hope that Rozier or Brown can take over Bradley's super-D / shooter role because (as SL described), he would be the one to go in this scenario, not Crowder.

Trading Crowder makes absolutely no sense given his contract.
Rozier is likely too small to be counted on to match up with first-string SGs every night. If we let Bradley go, we're hoping that Brown or Fultz/Ball will be ready to start next year.

There's a likely chance that Brown could be ready defensively. His shooting on the other hand, is probably a different thing.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I have the feeling that some Ainge's move will surprise EVERYBODY a lot. Don't ask me why.

I don't know if it will be trading the pick being nº1, trading IT, targetting a name we can't imagine, trading down... But I think he wants Hayward keeping Olynyk and as much core as he can, so we have to be veeeeery creative.
Yeah, I think we have to keep all avenues open.

I really dont see thomas or Horford getting moved, but no one else is safe.

I understand your point, but a little (big) difference. I don't rule out moving Thomas if we are lucky and can get Fultz, as long as IT is very exposed in defense in the ECF too.

And, with Ainge on board, I wouldn't rule out moving Horford if it didn't hurt our reputation and chances to get any major free agent in the future.

To answer the thread: It's very difficult. I've been quite disappointed with Crowder this offseason (maybe too high expectations?), but his contract is very valuable down the road to be a contender and he can be a superb SF/stretch 4 off the bench. I'm 50/50 with this.
sure, but against Cleveland we can hide him on JR Smith. I dont see him being as easily targeted as he was this past series.

If there was a series for him to be exposed it was this one, where Washington has Wall and Beal and their SF is 6'8" there was no where for Thomas to hide.

As for Horford, trading him absolutely would hurt our reputation with free agents. Its a total nonstarter.

If we had lost this past series in 5 or 6 games due to IT being a total liability, I could see him getting moved, but I just dont see it right now.

Let's see what happens then with the outcome of the series. TP for a good debate.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

The promising part here is that the max FA would likely be Hayward, meaning Crowder goes back to the bench (or PF) and Hayward would have no problem taking Avery's offensive role.

Avery isn't exactly towering - does he even have an inch on Rozier? And Rozier has fantastic measurements. I do think Brown has more potential as a defender, though.

We have to do something. Keeping the current core without major changes simply isn't good enough. Keeping AB, Crowder, KO would be pointless and redundant if we signed Hayward. Hayward makes those guys expendable if we can get him.

No way am I trading one of the best contracts in the league for salary relief. He is way more valuable than that.

Why the f would you trade Crowder and keep Olynyk?
. Because we could possibly have Hayward, Jaylen and Jackson/Tatum to replace him with....

Screw Hayward, over rated and over paid. Keep Crowder because he is good and cheap, and he can play the three or the four. Keep Brown because he can play the two or the three. Sign someone better than Olynyk and draft Fultz or Jackson.

If anything, Hayward is one of the most underrated players in the league. He's probably the second-best point forward in the game right now after Lebron.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Nah I'd just let Kelly Olynyk walk which I'm hoping will happen.
