Sometimes I think because Smart is such a good and willing defender he gets put in tougher situations. If I had to guard Beal like he does I might not have much energy for offense either

It's hard primarily because I don't feel at all comfortable projecting out Roziers development

Agree 100%.  I think we somewhat know Smarts ceiling, but Rozier man I don't know.  He has been really good in the playoffs.  He is more athletic and a better shooter.  Smart has the intangibles and Rozier seems to have better athleticism and shooting.  Complete toss up at this point to me.

I think Smart. He can be elite on one end, and passable on the other. I don't think Rozier has any elite skills.

I say Rozier.

I think he is a better shooter and has better quickness which is pretty important at the guard positions.

Not taking anything away from Smart because he does some things on the basketball court that make you go "wow," when it comes to defensive and hustle.  I know it's a cliche but he is a guy that makes winning plays.  I just think his jumper is broken and that he lacks quickness to compensate.

I think Rozier can be good on both sides of the ball.

Just to frame the discussion about "development," let's remember that Rozier and Smart are almost exactly the same age - Smart's only eleven days older.

Rozier is way more raw tho.

I think Smart has more wow factor but Rozier has more "darn that was good" factor and less "what the heck was that, why is he totally disappearing" factor.

Raw or just not as good? They're the same age and they've both been playing organized basketball full-time for the last several years. The only difference is that Smart has one more year in the pros (but it's not like Rozier was sitting around doing nothing then, he was playing under one of the most experienced college coaches in the game).

I appreciate why it might SEEM like Rozier has a lot more room to develop, but I'm just pointing out that there's not a whole lot separating the two, and none on the arguably biggest factor which is age. We're not comparing a 20-year old to a 23-year-old, we are comparing two guys who are 23.

Nope. I meant raw.

So we're debating which of two role players will be better.  When we get Fultz neither Smart or Rozier will matter much.  In any case, Rozier will still be a backup PG in two years so Smart's defense will still be more valuable.

Both will matter even if we land Fultz which is FAR from a sure thing

Rozier will still be better rounded; meaning a decent backup minutes PG.

Smart will be a better defender at SG.

What's your flavor. With Brown backing up AB, I keep Rozier as backup PG.

But I'm taking Brown over Smart in 2 yrs.

There's pretty much no chance Fultz is currently better then Smart or Rozier.  Lets see Fultz in the NBA before we even bother with that discussion.

Im going with Terry because he has elite quickness/speed and jumping.
