Danny is not going to overpay for Smart (rfa status)

If some teams wants to throw stupid money his way...he wont be back

Just hope it wont be the nets
Why not the Nets? By the time Smart is a RFA we will have already used all the Nets picks.

The conversation starts and ends with Smarts ability to shoot the ball. If Marcus at 25 can shoot 40% from the field, 35% from 3, and at least 75%from FT he is the better player. He will always be the better passer and defender. Rozier is currently a better rebounder statistically but I also wonder if part of that isnt by design. Marcus appears to hold his box out a lot to allow others to get boards. In crunch time he always seems to have a hand on the ball in the paint.

I just dont want to see Smart 4-5 timesa year if possible

Same as KO

It is likely the desperate Nets would do something like that and throw money at Smart and KO way ....

If Smart can develop a more reliable shot, it clearly will be him.

I am just not sure it will happen while he is on the Celtics.

If we as Celtics fans could see Pierce and Garnett 4-5 times a year after the Brooklyn trade, I think we will be able to bear having to see Smart and KO in Nets unis.

I voted for Smart.

He is physically able to defend more positions. He could be a rotation player and part time starter at PG and SG  for the next 8 to 10 years on most teams.

Rozier is going to be a backup PG for the rest of his career. He will be a rotation level player on most teams for the next few years.

Neither  will ever be a great shooter IMO, just league average at best.

I don't see either sniffing an all star game.

I think Smart. He can be elite on one end, and passable on the other. I don't think Rozier has any elite skills.

Rozier has Elite speed and athleticism.

When has Smart show any evidence he can be passable on offense? His offensive game has gotten worse every year he's been in the league. 15min a game defensive specialist is his ultimate ceiling.

He's already a 30mpg guy on a 53 win team.

Rozier is already better than Smart, especially offensively.

No shocker here. I think Rozier will be better. I've seen more YOY development with Rozier than Smart. He's more athletic, has a huge wingspan so can be a plus defender. He has been good on D during this playoff run as well.

In two years, Rozier will be better imo.

I actually think this depends on what happens to these two before the season starts. There are a whole lot of scenarios where we trade at least one of these two. Whoever stays will probably lose minutes to better players. It's even possible that Ainge pulls off a blockbuster, and whoever is left gets a big opportunity. I do think it is very unlikely both of these guys keep their current roles intact.

That being said, I vote for Rozier, especially if we draft a point guard. I don't know if Marcus has the talent to fix his flaws. I have little doubt that Rozier will develop into a very useful two way player.

This is the differentiator. Ask yourself: Which player do you want getting caught on a switch defending Lebron James in the ECF these next couple years? Size at the guard position in the modern NBA is a major asset.

I'll bet Ainge and company are thinking long-term about whether or not Marcus can improve his conditioning, and that will be an important factor in whether or not he stays or goes. He can't keep playing at this weight, and he certainly can't afford to gain even more weight.

I'd rather IT be caught on Bron because that means IT is on the floor and that gives us a way better chance to win that Smart or Rozier being on the floor.

Trying to make a point here

Rozier should study tapes of IT.
