The media is biased .....anything in LA or NY gets the hype ..
.they can do no wrong.

If Jaylen was draft by Knicks or Lakers .....he would be the second coming of MJ

If a player is draft by Boston that's auto matic .....hate or yuk with the big city crowd media crowds.

He'll be a top 15-20 players.

Great character, great NBA body, he will continue to develop for sure. While the entire league is 3 point happy, and his 3 point shot is improving, I'd like to see a mid-range stop and pop shot off the dribble develop.

Also I hope he pays attention to his free throw shooting, because he's gonna live at the line.

Based on what I have seen this year and the developmental arc he is taking on both ends of the floor, he has a ceiling as a possible top 5 player in this league. Barring injury, his floor is probably fringe All-Star, kinda on the level of Avery Bradley good.

He is 4th in FT attempts this year for the Celtics, only behind IT, Smart and Jae. Knowing that he is rookie and don't play to many minutes, 4th in FTA is pretty special. I can see him living at the free throw line in couple years if he learns how to use his athletism.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If in a couple of years Jaylen is somewhere between Butler and Kawhi, I will be doing cartwheels down the street.

I am glad to see Jaylen getting national attention because of his explosive moves last night and I think the attention is well deserved (Jaylen wasn't even on the top 10 rookie ladder at last check with guys like Pascal Siakam ahead of him), but he needs to keep working hard to become that player all of us know he can be. He definitely seems to have his head on straight.

Let's hold our horses. He still has a ways to go before becoming a reliable starter, never mind a superstar.

I don't think he has a ways to go before becoming a reliable starter. We are a number 2 seed and when he has started for us in Bradley's absence he's been quite good.

He's very close to being a reliable starter, if he isn't already.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I'm on board.

I don't know if he's going to be an All-Star, but I think his basement is, funny enough, Jae Crowder, with more athleticism. I can see him being a good shooter, a glue guy, will hustle, will be tough, but quicker and can dunk on anyone's face.

That it itself is a really good player, anything more we get from that would be oh so sweet cherry on top.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

The question was "in 5 years time". Answer that.

Has a lot of talent.  CAN be very very good, but certain aspects of his game will need work.  Needs to continue to work on his shooting but the signs are promising.  Needs to work more in his handle.  This will be the most difficult skill to improve in a significant way.  Will probably never be elite in this area (elite being someone like Kobe or Bron).  Lastly, he doesn't have the highest IQ right now.  Some of that will come with more experience.  But again, will not necessarily become elite.

I'd put his ceiling at someone like Derozen.  Very good but not the special like the true superstars.

Brown can start at 2 or 3 right now

He is not out of place.. has the strength...already a tier 1 level talent in terms of quickness/explosiveness

Soon there needs to be a decision on Crowder. Either he accepts a role off the bench or traded

I think we'll have more of an idea  after the draft. If we Fultz, he'll probably play 2 and Jaylen will back uo crowder off thr bench. Remember after this season Crowder only has 2 more years on his deal.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

True

But if Brown is the better talent he should start/finish games sooner than later
