Jaylen has an extremely rare combination of athleticism, character, intelligence and attitude to become an all time great! These qualities are almost never seen in the abundance that this young man displays. All he has to do is keep working on his game and he will eventually become a fantastic ball player.
I keep reading that he needs to improve his shot and once he gets this or gets that he will be dominant. While I agree with this I also wonder how much of this is just the Celtics system kind of holding him back. By that, I mean they just want to make sure that he succeeds as what he is doing and doesnt try and do too much. He looks like he can get by almost anyone and once he can hit the pullup J off the dribble, look out!
I TIVO'd his dunk a few games ago, the one where there was a phantom whistle on IT I think. Anyway, JB had his head very close to the rim. I hear that often on players dunks but rarely find it to be true. I went throug that dunk though frame by frame and Jaylen's head had to be no farther then 6 inches from the rim. That would put his vertical on the dunk at close to 36 and since he was trying not to hit the rim I am betting it's a little higher.
I once read that MJ had only a 42 inch vertical on dunk attempts because it's harder to jump holding a basketball. It looks like JB's does not have real explosive jumping like Dominique or MJ but he gets up there. Lebron is the same, he jumps very high but still does not explode into it like other players do.
