Another failure by Danny. Not surprised with the Bogut decision, but to not even upgrade our current team's huge holes is just a gigantic failure. Not signing Jones is the cherry on top of this entire trade deadline fiasco, especially when he might legitimately be the second best big on the team behind Horford.

Keep on "liking our guys" and hoarding our lesser assets, Danny, because I'm sure they'll bring us banner 18.

....Except for when IT ballhogs and shoots 4-21 or something.

So frustrating.

lets not act like Andrew Bogut was gonna bring banner 18 either.

worst case Ainge's inability to add a little piece has cost us Griffin or Hayward in FA

How the hell can Ainge be blamed when free agents decide to sign elsewhere? What is he supposed to do, hold a gun to their head and force them to sign with the Celtics? Because if so he didn't blow it by not signing Bogut and/or Jones. He blew it by not signing Durant in the offseason. He shouldn't have taken Brady, IT, Smart and Olynyk to that meeting. He should have taken Luca Brasi.

By the way, the whole "liking our guys" thing is just what you say afterwards when you can't get things done that would have enhanced the team. Pay little attention to it. Its nothing but PR.

Especially when you consider that of the top 4 teams in the East, we're the only one who did nothing to improve our roster.

That is so comforting.

It's his job to close deals. He didn't close this deal, period. And, as a result of his failure, the team has a gapping need that has yet to be addressed. Thus I feel perfectly comfortable criticizing him for not adding to the roster.

If a player decides to go somewhere else, there is no deal to close. It really is as simple as that. Try selling something to someone that has already made the decision to buy something somewhere else. Its darn near impossible. Ainge tried to sign them they signed elsewhere. End of story.

If you think adding Bogut for 10-15 min a game was bringing banner 18, I can't help you.

He entertained Ainge's pitch, so presumably he was persuadable, and open to the C's overtures. He was open to buying what Ainge was selling--otherwise why take the meeting? Ainge wasn't able to close the deal. End of story.

Commited to Cleveland. Per the vertical

Yup this is from the Vertical. Not a huge surprise. Too bad, he could've given us an extra dimension on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, a lot of fans overlook how good Bogut is at ball movement. His injury was an underrated loss for GSW in the Finals.

Sorry this is all incredibly lame. Not like Williams, Bogut etc are all-stars right now, but they are not getting their market rate and all both going to the same team. You add on that they already got Korver in what seemed like a salary dump, together It really makes the league pretty boring. I realize we benefitted from the occasional Marbury or PJ Brown signing, but I really don't recall us getting 3 guys like that in a single season (and we also didn't have a league record team salary at that point either).

This is just so incredibly wrong.  You do know that they were bought-out, correct?  It is not like Bogut or Williams are giving their money back from this season.  The teams they played for didn't want them and waived them.  Every team had the opportunity to claim them on waivers and take on their contract and passed.

Their "market rate" is exactly what they are getting paid.  Bogut and Williams are participants in this market, they are not commodities that simply go to the highest bidder.  Just like you or I can choose where we work and for how much we will work for, they can too.

No one proclaimed that Bogut equaled a championship BUT rebounding has been an issue for us for awhile now. Danny's continued inability to address it should be called out.

Maybe. Or maybe we were a backup in case he didn't like Cleveland's pitch.

There's room to criticize Danny, but I don't think it's fair to do so here. Cleveland was always his first choice.

We don't want him anyway since he just showed he has no competition left in him to sign and warm the bench for the Cavs, same as KD
You can't win a ring with that kind of soft mentality in your team
