In order to match salaries, Amir and Zeller would have to be part of the deal. However, that leaves us with KO and Mickey as back up bigs, which is unacceptable for the win-now team we would become with Melo. Ainge would want Hernangomez but might have to settle for Kyle O'Quin.
So the only realistic deal I can see is Melo, O'Quin and cash (to pay for Melo's trade kicker) for Amir, Zeller, Jerebko, Rozier, Young, Boston 2018 first, future Clippers first.
That gives us a lineup of...
IT
Bradley
Crowder
Melo
Horford
And essentially a bench of Smart, Brown, KO, Green and O'Quin.
We'd also be giving away virtually all our cap space for the next few years and possibly facing some luxury tax issues when it comes to resigning IT, Bradley, Crowder and KO.
If we're getting Olympic Melo, it's pretty tempting because you could pencil us in for the conference finals and decent shot at upsetting both the Cavs and Warriors.
