Lots of talks about "can it be done" but do you guys actually want, as fans, have melo in Boston ?
I don't think this guy is a winner, might have been before but what has he achieved in NY ? We have defend/rebound issues and the solution would be melo ? in what world ? I would hardly give small assets to get him honestly
Melo could feasibly be the best rebounder on our team if he came here. He is actually very good in that category. In the past 3 years he has averaged 8 rebounds twice.
He usually isnt locked in on defense but if he buys in he can be at least a passable defender.
He won a national title at Syracuse(ancient history I know) and made an WCF in Denver where his best teammates were probably JR Smith, Allen Iverson(not on WCF team) and Kenyon Martin and a post-prime Chauncey Billups.
In New York he won I think 2 or 3 playoff series and the best players he had here were Amare Stoudemire and a very post-prime chauncey Billups.
On the Olympic teams hes won(not really an accomplishment) and been a model teammate. I think the Melo is a cancer/loser narrative is really overblown. He chose NYK over a chance to win a ring in Chicago, but other than that I dont think hes done much to be called a loser. If he can buy in he gives us another go-to scorer so that when teams put length on Thomas we dont immediately collapse.
Im not giving up any big assets for the guy, but Id love to add him to the team.
