Wow. This must mean NYK REALLY want to trade Carmelo.

But Cleveland have rebuffed their offer and it seems they intend to keep Kevin Love (which doesn't surprise me one bit).

Honestly trading Love for Melo really doesn't help CLE as much as people think, and even so, CLE doesn't have many trade chips outside of Love to trade for Carmelo anyways (unless the Knicks are willing to sell him for dirt cheap to Cleveland, because why not  ::))

seems like a lateral move at bet for Cle.

I get why NYK offers it and leaks it. You just sit there and hope that GM Lebron hears about this and demands they trade for his friend.

Lateral move at best.

More likely, it hurts their rebound, post up offense and spacing. Also means 3 players that need the ball in their hands with Lebron, kyrie and melo.

They need to stop with the foolishness. Melo is simply untradeable. They need to accept that fact and waive him like the Nets did to Deron Williams.

Man if we could some how jump in here.

Love to Boston

Melo To Clevland
#1 2017 Pick to Cleveland

Zeller, Brown and Bostons 2018 to NY

IT4
Bradley
Crowder
Love
Al

T Rozier
KO
Green
JJ

We might not need to trade our first this year if NY is desperate?   Maybe they would take Terry R or a couple other firsts?

0% chance. Melo still has some value and no way he gets waived with 2.5 years left on his contract.

That's a horrible trade for Boston lol. Not trying to be mean, but what is your goal? That team is going nowhere and you gave up Brown? Are you kidding me?

This wouldn't even be a lateral move for the Cavs. Carmelo has lost a step this season and at 33, it's not coming back. Love is almost 5 years younger and provides rebounding and 3 point shooting that helps his team a lot. Straight up, it'd be a bad deal for Cleveland.

Melo is only valuable to a team that doesn't care about winning, but wants to trick its fan-base into thinking that they're doing everything they can to build a contender.

I don't even think Lebron is the intended audience.

"See, other GMs? Carmelo is worth just as much as Kevin Love! You'll have to beat that to pry him away from us!"

The flaw here, of course, is that such a statement is really only credible if the offer comes from the *other team* and not you. But hey, it's the Knicks. No one has ever accused them of being masters of strategic thinking.

I disagree.  Carmelo isn't going to just waive his no trade clause.  But he might for LeBron, especially if LeBron convinces the Cavs that Melo is just what they need.

That NTC along with the size of that contract pretty much sealed his fate to NYC.
