I love how I post about this Carmelo Anthony rumor thinking it was interesting in terms of potentially "changing the landscape " of the NBA right now....

And people here try proposing trade ideas for Kevin Love...

What did you expect?  :P

But seriously, I can't see Love being a much better fit in NY than Melo, so to me it makes perfect sense that Boston fans would ogle him.

This trade makes no sense for Cleveland. Melo is too old and in decline.

That said, I would love to see K-Love go to New York. Love + Porzingis together would be an incredible big man combination. A matchup nightmare. Imagine trying to defend two bigs as skilled as those two guys out on the perimeter? Yikes!

I understand that Love/Horford at the 4/5 would be terrific at the offensive end, but kind of screams potential train wreck to me at the defensive end against elite playoff teams. Our defensive rebounding would improve but I wonder about our interior defense.

Can it really get any worse than we've been lately? Lol We're already a bottom defensive team, and since Christmas we're tied with the Nuggets as the worst defensive team in the league, which even included a long winning streak for us. That's bad.

Agree entirely but Love and Horford eating up the minutes at the 4/5 wouldn't allow us to improve defensively. I'm much more interested in Noel/Horford.

Yeah and also, it doesn't help CLE much (they need play makers and a guy who can "orchestrate" an offense consistently, even if off the bench). Melo is an iso-shooter who doesn't play much defense. Plus, giving up Love for him? Bad move.

Love would fit in well here, but again.. I don't think he threads the needle and it will cost quite a bit too.

Man if we could some how jump in here.

Love to Boston

Melo To Clevland
#1 2017 Pick to Cleveland

Zeller, Brown and Bostons 2018 to NY

IT4
Bradley
Crowder
Love
Al

T Rozier
KO
Green
JJ

We might not need to trade our first this year if NY is desperate?   Maybe they would take Terry R or a couple other firsts?

What is that #1 2017 pick going to Cleveland? It better not be the Nets pick for this year. I really hope you aren't suggesting trading Brown AND the Nets pick for Kevin Love?

Let me tell you the story of a man called Billy King...

I'm not much of a Love fan ....he is fancy KO not scarred to shoot and play a little more inside.  But I'm less fan of Melo , who basically is too lazy or old or both to use his length and size and battle on the boards and play defense
  So...

I m giving the edge to Knicks in this trade , player wise .  Melo is on the way out .   He has more money than he can spend and no passion .

Oh , I bet Mrs Melo would just be thrilled living in OHIO ... ;D

There's always the bright side...

(Note: I only ever saw the first episode of this show...which is probably more than most here)

As for the rumored deal, it makes some sense. If you assume Lebron only has about 3 years left of top contention, he can get that with Carmelo and, as others have noted, Melo has played well in complementary roles before on Team USA. You also have to assume the camaraderie would improve playing with a bff instead of Love.

I am not saying Melo is better than Love - they are equal at best with Melo on the decline - but this could be a happy ending for Lebron...no, not that kind of happy ending  :P

Obviously Cleveland would never do the trade, but I wonder if there are sweeteners the Knicks could add that gets it done.  Like if the Knicks added O'Quinn and their 1st this year.

So

Love, Birdman, Jones for Anthony, O'Quinn, 2017 1st

Still not sure the Cavs do it, but that type of trade would likely give them some pause before flat out rejecting it.

It doesn't really matter what the management thinks. What matters more is what James thinks and wants.

Stephen A Smiff was on the radio this morning, saying how Love and Carmelo are similar players, both outside jump shooters, neither plays defense. Love will give you more rebounds, but he can't create his own shot anymore. Carmelo has no desire to play D but will give you 25 pts per night.

I think this is the most honest things Stephen A has ever said....

He also threw in:
- Love is breaking down physically with hip, back and leg issues
- Anthony has given a list of (3) teams he would waive his no-trade contract for: Cavs, Clippers and Celtics
- His Celtics wish is only if BOS does not give up too many assets to acquire him, that he would want to review the trade before approving it

The Boston Celtics

The Celtics do not seem as interested in Anthony as you would think. Sources close to the situation were non-committal about whether the Celtics have been engaged in the Anthony situation but did point out some things about the Celtics team that signaled maybe Anthony was not the right fit.

The Celtics are a defense first team that has been built around the idea of a defensive mindset. All of the players the Celtics have collected, especially in the draft, have been known for their athleticism and defense. The Celtics want to run and they want to attack defensively. That’s not Anthony.

The Celtics pride themselves in high basketball I.Q. players who play smart. That’s probably not Anthony, either.

There is no question adding Anthony would make the Celtics a bona fide contender in the Eastern Conference, especially if they did not have to give up their core talents. The beauty of the Celtics roster is they have plenty of guys.

The Celtics could build a package centered around Amir Johnson ($12 million), Jonas Jerebko ($5 million) and James Young ($1.85 million) and get most of the way to Anthony’s $24.55 million salary. Each of the aforementioned contracts are also in their final year, that’s also important. The Celtics could sprinkle in some upside youth in Terry Rozier ($1.9 million), Jaylen Brown ($4.743 million) and Demetrius Jackson ($1.45 million) and still not touch a core player. To top it off, there is the pocketful of future draft picks that the franchise owns that could sweeten any deal, including the rights to swap picks with Brooklyn this year.

The Celtics have the pieces to make a deal and give the Knicks future cap flexibility, some youth and potentially a promising draft pick. The problem is it does not seem like Anthony is what the Celtics want and it’s also not clear whether Anthony would even agree to join the Celtics.

The Celtics are legitimately one player away, but is Anthony the right player for how they want to play? The answer there might be “No.”

I would be fine with any Anthony trade that didn't include Jaylin, the 2017 Nets pick and either Smart or Crowder.  Not thrilled, mind you, but I wouldn't be burning Danny in effigy.
