Yeah, I think Carmelo is the last thing Cleveland needs. Love isn't a perfect fit, but he's a much better fit there than Carmelo.

But does this mean Phil is still trying to be somewhat competitive in any Melo trade? How exactly is that going to work? lol And what kind of sense would getting Love be when your franchise star in Porzingis plays the same position?

Got a feeling this is also leaked by New York to try and raise Melo's trade value.

I still think he'd be a good small-ball fit at the four for us here.
I really think Love actually is the perfect fit in Cleveland.  And Anthony is the opposite of that.

Danny has probably already sent his low ball offer  :D

I'm appalled ....😮   ....you'd suggest our "Abe Lincoln " of NBA GMs would "low ball " Phil Jackson.

The only reason I see why Cleveland would do this trade is if they feel they need more speed in the front court. Tristan Thompson is too good to not play so Love can't slide down to the 5.

As for the C's, I can see how Melo can fit. At this point in his career, he's a 4 more than a 3, the same way Horford is a 5 more than a 4. He gives us an elite scoring option and he's a decent rebounder. And seeing his performances in team USA, I'm sure he can flourish in a team-based system. I firmly believe he's a high IQ player. The biggest downside is the defense, obviously. But if we could get him for Amir+Rozier+2018 BKN pick and salary filler, it sounds like a good deal.

Unless DA thinks we can be big players in FA (I assume acquiring Melo kills all our financial flexibility?)

Count me out on throwing any Nets pick in to an Anthony deal who I WOULD trade for on the cheap. Just males no sense. If the Knicks want volume picks out of Boston's own as well as the Memphis/Clips firsts and whatever high seconds the team projects to have, that's an instance where there's some logic to a consolidation trade. No Nets picks, no Smart or Jaylen though.
