Yeah, I think Carmelo is the last thing Cleveland needs. Love isn't a perfect fit, but he's a much better fit there than Carmelo.

But does this mean Phil is still trying to be somewhat competitive in any Melo trade? How exactly is that going to work? lol And what kind of sense would getting Love be when your franchise star in Porzingis plays the same position?

Got a feeling this is also leaked by New York to try and raise Melo's trade value.

I still think he'd be a good small-ball fit at the four for us here.

The recent Lebron meltdowns now make a ton of sense.

He wants this trade badly and the GM probably is against it.

Melo and Lebron have always had great on court chemistry. This goes back to the all star games and Olympic ones.

IMO This would be huge for the Cavs. People want to knock Melo for failing as the number 1 guy but if he's the number 2 or 3 and he has Lebron to fallback on he will most likely excel. He just has too much skill to not work there as a complimentary piece to Lebron and Kyrie.

Another iso scorer with less rebounding and just as bad of defense as Love is not what they need. Also, what makes you think that Melo is going to be fine taking THIRD fiddle behind both Lebron and Irving? lol

I don't think this is a real rumor anyways.

He's at the end of the line. Guys tend to make sacrifices to win towards the end of their careers. He's also friends with Lebron so I don't see him having any resentment to being the second or third option.

To me he's a big upgrade over Love.

I actually would love to see this for a couple reasons.

Carmelo should get him KG, Ray Allen chance at a ring.

The Warriors will crush the Cavs as currently constructed.

If nothing else it will make for great entertainment, since are team has a 1% chance of winning it. Why not?

His done well as a secondary option on team USA. I think he could shine outside NY. Its become toxic for him.

Hes won a NCAA title a few olympics and considering the talent hes been around, done pretty well in terms of playoff success. He made a dissapointing decision to stay in NY and be the man instead of chasing a title in Chicago, but I think the Melo's a cancer narrative is a bit overblown.

Keep in mind that Love could always be flipped separately after the fact to a team that needs scoring. If you could move Melo for Love and then turn around and send Love to Orlando for something centered on youth/picks/contracts, that might work.

Yeah, I do think Love would fix a lot of our problems, though I don't think alone he's enough to put us over the top.

I understand that Love/Horford at the 4/5 would be terrific at the offensive end, but kind of screams potential train wreck to me at the defensive end against elite playoff teams. Our defensive rebounding would improve but I wonder about our interior defense.

They need to stop with the foolishness. Melo is simply untradeable. They need to accept that fact and waive him like the Nets did to Deron Williams.
0% chance. Melo still has some value and no way he gets waived with 2.5 years left on his contract.

Melo is only valuable to a team that doesn't care about winning, but wants to trick its fan-base into thinking that they're doing everything they can to build a contender.

Like the Knicks.  Or the Nets.  Maybe the Lakers.  Not Cleveland, or Boston.

I bring up Orlando because there's potential for desperation there that there simply isn't with Ainge. Hennigan is GMing for his job right now and could plausibly cash in the entire rest of his youth plus pick(s) for both Love and Rose to have something to show for all this. I'm not comfortable putting a Brooklyn pick on the table for Love given his health issues.

Can it really get any worse than we've been lately? Lol We're already a bottom defensive team, and since Christmas we're tied with the Nuggets as the worst defensive team in the league, which even included a long winning streak for us. That's bad.

I love how I post about this Carmelo Anthony rumor thinking it was interesting in terms of potentially "changing the landscape " of the NBA right now....

And people here try proposing trade ideas for Kevin Love...
