I'm really happy that Jonathon Simmons is making a nice career for himself, but I'm not sure I agree with calling a 27 year-old who bounced around the D-league for years a "rising star."  Was Whiteside one last year?
I think he didn't qualify last year. From what I know, he had a short stint with some team (Kings?) and presumably got waived his rookie year. From then he bounced around dleague.

But yeah, I dont see how much "rising" Simmons is going to do for the rest of his career.

It's not officially rookie-sophomore any more tho.  Exum was in Smart's draft class, for instance (I guess he missed his sophomore season with an injury, but that's stretching the definition of sophomore.)

He has averaged 13.5 minutes and 5 points a game.

That just wont get you on the team.

Not sure you post was responding to mine, but if it was just note that I was not advocating Brown on the team just pointing out that he is eligibility is for the US squad.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Have him over Chriss but like, that's a fair call. Otherwise, who are you leaving off?

Because Exum and Chriss were much better, right?   ::) ::)

Exum in 19 MPG - 5.2 PPG, 1.9 RPG and 1.7 APG
Chris in 18 MPG - 7.2 PPG, 2.3 RPG and 2.2 APG

Brown in 13 MPG - 5 PPG, 2.1 RPG

Give Brown minutes like those guys have and he will average better numbers.

I'd rather have him "snubbed" for nonsense like this than win the dunk contest, get a big head, and lose focus and motivation.

He seems like he wouldn't do that anyway, but really, this stuff is so inconsequential.

Exum. I mean, he's not longer a rookie nor a sophomore. Missing second year due to injuries doesn't technically make you a sophomore.

I agree with Boris Badenov. It means nothing + he doesn't meet the selection criteria.

Exum is on the world team and Chris is a completely reasonable decision.

Towns is technically a World player since he's from Dominican Republic.

@mrDee

he has dual citizenship, but he plays for the Dominican national selection, so yes.

Same story as with Horford, Ewing, Olajuwon ... to name a few.

As long as you play for a US college, the general public sees you as American.

I'm curious about what will happen with Kostas Antetokounmpo once he joins the NBA.

But Exum is on the international team. Jaylen qualifies as international?

Hakeem would have been international until he became a US Citizen and played on the dream team.
