If Sactown is big on Millsap as reported and they get him, any dreams you may have of Boogie in Boston will die immediately.

Yup.

Mislap is still a free agent this summer, and the King will still suck, so no, our hopes of getting Cousins would just be moved to draft night.

If they land Millsap they're the favorite for the 8th seed. They'd then probably max out Millsap and use the DV on Cousins. I guess the bright side/dream scenario is that they mortgage the future for Millsap, he walks, they have NOTHING beside Boogie and have no choice but to move him.

See post below. They have absolutely nothing to offer in a trade.

And do you think Milsap will actually agree to a trade to the Kings? lol He's going to dictate where he goes since he's a free agent, so there's like a 0.01% chance of him going to Sacramento.

When the Kings offer him all the money in free agency to stay, he'll say "Where do I sign?"

Naw, he'll have other big money offers, and he's made quite a bit of money already. I think he's looking to win more than the big payday right now.

Doesn't mean he'll take a major, major pay cut, but he'll get enough money offers elsewhere that Sacramento won't be worth it.

Sure he will.  There's a standard playbook for Sacramento.  Sign an above-market contract, then say how much you hate it there until they trade you.  If he's smart he won't demand a trade bonus -- that's what'll get him stuck there.

Sources: Atlanta discussed Korver parameters with a few contenders, but Cavs stepped up with first-round pick. On deck: Paul Millsap.

Wow, they are cleaning house. Wonder what they will do with Dwight Howard.

Might be nothing. They do still need to have something to sell to the fans, and Dwight's in the first year of a three-year contract so he can't go anywhere on them anytime soon. This very well could just be clearing out the old guys on expiring contracts and trying to rebuild on the fly around Schroeder, Dwight, and Bazemore.

I'd offer them Olynyk and 17 Clippers and that's about it.

Would LOVE to see him go to the Pelicans. AD needs to be the center anyways, and that would be a really, really intriguing fit.

They'd also pretty much have the 8th seed over the Kings at that point, so it's a win-win there.

So that's the Kings, Raptors, and Nuggets who've been reported tonight alone as having interest in Millsap. Again, Atlanta's going to fetch a pretty penny for him. Anyone thinking they're going to have to sell low on him because he's going to be expiring is going to be surprised. The market determines the price and there's clearly a huge one for him.

If you're going to only have this guy for 5 months how's that going to command a lot of assets?  He makes sense for Toronto - maybe Sacramento so they can make the playoffs and go out in 4 straight to Golden State.  Then he opts out and becomes a UFA.  This is the reason he's on the market to start with, right?

What? I explained exactly how he's going to command a ton of assets. There's several teams that are going to be bidding for his services. They're going to have to out-do each other's offers somehow.

Well.......there's a difference between multiple teams being interested and multiple teams making him a must-add commodity. I think they'll get an interesting package for him, but it's not a given that there's going to be some bidding war that spirals out of control. Denver has a logjam in the frontcourt they could stand to clear out, Sacramento has a disgruntled Afflalo and some young guys who haven't worked out, Toronto has rotation pieces, and NO is a wild card. Afflalo, Gay, and Ben McLemore isn't exactly what I'd call a ton of assets, but it's not nothing either and may be what Atlanta's looking at.

I seriously doubt it.  My guess is the Hawks are looking to move him and are trying to get the best offer they can so they're putting this out there.  With the new collective bargaining agreement coming in Millsap has a chance to hit the jackpot by opting out of his current deal this summer.  Of course there is a chance that he wants to stay with the team who acquires him (Toronto?) and maybe that gets worked out ahead of time but on the surface he's a rental.

Any GM who gives up assets only to see him become a UFA is going to get a ton of heat.

You realize I already acknowledged that he's going to be expiring, right?

It doesn't matter. Teams know that; they still want the guy. Just like a bunch of teams wanted an expiring Korver, but the Cavs were willing to outbid the rest of them by offering a first rounder. Millsap's an actual difference maker; Atlanta is going to get a nice haul for a guy who's going to be a free agent because of how good he is and how in-demand he'll be.

I have no idea what you're arguing here, honestly.

Mislap is nice but he is no superstar, or even all-star anymore. Teams I'm sure are interested to get him for cheap considering the Hawks are looking to get something before he leaves in a few months, but there are no teams looking to give up serious assets for a 31 year old, non all-star on an expiring deal. It's like when a shop advertises that they have a sale on something decent. People run to it and get in line, but if they see the price is not an absolute sale, but regular price, they walk away.

I really don't think we're making the ECF even if Millsap gets traded to a Western Conference team.

Getting past the 1st round is my main goal for this season.  Let's see Brad win a playoff series.
