Toronto landing Millsap is the darkest timeline.

I kind of think it will happen.

Toronto know they are likely a 2 or 3 seed.. and if they want any shot at beating Cleveland (even a small one), they should add Millsap.

He would be a PERFECT fit for them I'll admit.

They have to give up either of Valenciunas, Ross and Poelt for that to happen.

If Sactown is big on Millsap as reported and they get him, any dreams you may have of Boogie in Boston will die immediately.

Yup.

Mislap is still a free agent this summer, and the King will still suck, so no, our hopes of getting Cousins would just be moved to draft night.

He would be. We can kiss the ECF goodbye if they land Millsap. I just hope that Millsap to Toronto would force Danny to keep all the picks.

Toronto has to give up some real rotation pieces to get Milsap -- they don't have the expirings that we do to add him quite as cleanly.  Terrence Ross is finally having a nice season, and they'll miss his minutes.

I'd say adding Millsap and losing Ross is a net gain, especially against a certain #3 seed that has a particularly weak frontcourt.

Oh, it's a net gain.  I'm not arguing otherwise.  But it does create a hole on their roster that we wouldn't have to create by trading Amir, failed prospect salary filler, and picks.

And I will again question whether Atlanta will actually be interested in Ross, or if they'd like to clear their books and go with a full franchise reset. Toronto has a tough time cobbling together enough players to make salaries match without including Ross.  I don't think it's fait accompli that Toronto has the pieces Atlanta is interested.  I feel the biggest competition in the Milsap sweepstakes was in Boston on Tuesday.

If they land Millsap they're the favorite for the 8th seed. They'd then probably max out Millsap and use the DV on Cousins. I guess the bright side/dream scenario is that they mortgage the future for Millsap, he walks, they have NOTHING beside Boogie and have no choice but to move him.

Except the Kings have absolutely nothing of consequence to offer in a trade. I'm pretty sure they can't trade any draft picks until like 2021 or 2022 due to the Philly swap rights, their pick going to Philly in 2019, and owing Chicago their conditional pick this year.

Who are they going to trade for him? They don't want Gay, who is also an expiring, so who else do they have? lol No way they get Milsap.

I question whether Toronto has the right pieces, too, but I could see them cobbling together enough to get it done. Best case scenario for us is probably something like Millsap to Denver.

And do you think Milsap will actually agree to a trade to the Kings? lol He's going to dictate where he goes since he's a free agent, so there's like a 0.01% chance of him going to Sacramento.

He'll go wherever the greatest return is for ATL. The problem is that you're expecting the #KANGZ to act rationally. These are the same guys who mortgaged their future to sign Rondo to a one-year deal.

When the Kings offer him all the money in free agency to stay, he'll say "Where do I sign?"

Not really how it works. See the Love deal. The Hawks won't purposefully send him a place he doesn't want to go either. Relationships, especially with agents and players, are important in this game, and it'll hurt them much more than it will help them to send him to the Kings.

Do you watch much of the Kings? I watch most of their games, and that's still not a very good return at all.

WCS is largely seen as a bust throughout the league. Richardson has potential as a rotation player, but that's about it. The 2021 pick is so far in the future that there's no telling how good it will be, though with it being the Kings it's more than likely a lottery pick.

Also, management and ownership would pretty much be getting their heads called for (more than they already are) if they made that deal, especially if Milsap has voiced his opposition to going there. That move would be on par for being as bad as the Philly pick deals to clear room for Rondo. They'd sacrifice their future to still probably not be favorites to be the 8th and be target practice for the Warriors. I'd still probably take New Orleans or Portland over them in that scenario, especially with as difficult as their upcoming schedule is.

I think Toronto, Denver, and Boston have much greater chances of getting him than Sacramento. I truly can't see Atlanta doing Milsap like that.

Naw, he'll have other big money offers, and he's made quite a bit of money already. I think he's looking to win more than the big payday right now.

Doesn't mean he'll take a major, major pay cut, but he'll get enough money offers elsewhere that Sacramento won't be worth it.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to make a ton of sense, and I agree about the package being fairly underwhelming, but reports are that Sacramento is involved, so we can't pretend that they're not involved.
