Price is probably still the same - AB, Crowder, Brown, one BKN pick. A very steep price to pay indeed.
I suppose if a max-level player was 'guaranteed' to sign with us this summer (moving those players would leave enough money), then I could be convinced, but that is obviously too much to give up otherwise.
I don't think that was the "real" price, which is a ridiculous offer and never would be taken seriously by Ainge. Now maybe that was the initial trade demand in a bargaining tactic, but it certainly wasn't the "real" price that was reported.
The reported "real" price was Crowder, the 2016 Brooklyn pick (which turned into Brown), and the 2017 Brooklyn pick. Now that's still a steep price, but removing AB from that trade package makes it much more reasonable.
I still think we should probably do that deal, as long as we're also making a deal for a center like Noel, Bogut, etc. An IT, AB, Butler, Horford, Noel lineup would challenge the Cavs in the East and be a good match-up for the Warriors. I'd love this type of lineup:
Butler for Crowder, JJ, Brown, and the 2017 Brooklyn swap;
Noel and Covington for Rozier, Young, and the Memphis pick;
PG: IT, Smart, Jackson
SG: AB, Green
SF: Butler, Covington
PF: Horford, KO, JJ
C: Noel, Amir, Zeller
That's a legit championships contender.
