Crowder irate with Celtics fans for cheering Hayward (Going off on Twitter).

This will be the Cs last chance to add 'free' max level talent for several years. While I agree that I would prefer it to be a big like Griffin, I certainly wouldn't scoff at Hayward. Our team plus Hayward is better than our team without - which is essentially where we will be (unless you consider Noel a better improvement than Hayward, which I guess I can understand given their positions).

The trade options from there are endless. We would IT, Horford, and Hayward. We would still have all of our core support players (-KO). And we would still have all of our BKN picks. Maybe Jae sees the writing on the wall as he might be part of a trade, but I would absolutely love to keep him and his bargain contract around as a 2-3-4 off the bench.

Basically, we still need talent to contend, and Jae either needs to become a superstar or not be so sensitive.

I think this is the only reason Hayward makes sense.

This offseason is our last opportunity to substantially better the team via FA. This means if we dont sign a big FA we forfeit the asset of open cap space.

The only big FAs are really Hayward and Griffin. If we sign Hayward we increase our overall talent level. It also requires a trade from Brown/Crowder but in terms of winning championships Id say the best path is to maximize your talent and then figure out a way to piece/trade your talent into a team that fits the best.

Well, I don't think Hayward is a superstar. He's a very, very good player -- but we already have a very good player at his position, so such a move only has incremental value to us.

I think you totally missed the point that ilikesports and I just made which is we are still looking to add as much top level talent to this team as possible. There are only a handful of superstars in the NBA, but Hayward will be an all-star this year and he would be pretty awesome to get without giving up anything.

He may have incremental value to this current team, but his presence would allow us to make trades for bigger needs without taking a hit anywhere else.

More talent is better than less talent...obviously - especially when you get to keep all of your current 'assets.'

Will the fans cheer for Noel and Anthony Davis as well?

Maybe it's not a big deal to us fans here.. but how would the players feel, giving it their all on the court, winning games (they are a 3 seed in the East and 21-14 people...), and yet almost every game they are cheering for future FA's.

It would be one thing if an opposing player got injured or was retiring (Kobe for example), but not in a normal January game...

I feel like I understand where Jae's coming from, and I don't blame him for feeling the way he feels.

What sticks in my craw is that players and execs often remind fans that "this is a business"—as in, "We know you love Player X (whether that's Perk or Crowder or whoever), but we have titles to think about, so don't get too attached"—yet when some fans are ready to move on from Player X to Player Y, suddenly it's "personal" and "disrespectful," etc.

I understand and agree with him. As long as Hayward is still wearing a Utah jersey, he's the opponent. It's one thing to lobby for him to come to Boston but a totally other thing to cheer for him at a game. I don't go in for that kind of thing. Jae probably should feel a little disrespected from those fans.

That's ridiculous. Ray did acknowledge it by signing with the Heat. Ray did not want to be benched, so he left us, even though, imo, he was our most consistent scorer that year.

Any player with a real competitive nature would be bugged by it. Crowder did not respond appropriately and has since apologized for his response, but I'd rather him get upset and have his best game of the season than roll over and let someone take his spot.

Really? Ray Allen was a pro, he never mentioned it during the season, he came to play when he could every game, he was at games 5 hours before game time shooting shots. PRO.

I understand Jae's anger..  When this team stunk he came in, busted his butt and changed the culture of our team.. He lead these guys though hard-nosed play.. He is the one who went to Danny when he first got here and said he was not about that Tanking crap..  Its his no nonsense gritty attitude that makes us who we are..  We are not the Warriors of the East.. We are not for our Tough play and he is one of the reasons for that..

Like he said, when we stunk no-one was openly rooting for the enemy.

He has done alot for our Current team. Why cant we show the guy who helped put us back on the map some dang on respect.  Can he be traded yes.. But show him some respect while he is here doing everything we asked him to do.

We are a better fan base than that..

You make it sound like the whole stadium was giving Hayward a standing ovation when it was just a small contingent of fans. People watching from home didn't even know there was an issue until after the game. Once the game started and Jae was knocking down threes, the crowd was going ballistic.

Besides, most people here are talking about adding Hayward to Crowder and the Cs, not replacing him. As has been discussed, [barring a trade] we will need to spend our money this offseason or we won't have any to spend at all - we might as well use it on an actual max-level free agent - even if it isn't at a position of need.

I honestly don't know a Cs fan who doesn't like Crowder and doesn't think he has great value moving forward in whatever role he has. In short, we do respect him...a LOT.
