Ironically, they would play very well together.
Pair them with Smart and Jaylen, and you can basically switch 1-4 on 80% of the league.

I don't get the obsession with Hayward.

Because he is one of the best offensive sfs in the league.

Last night he had an off night and still scored 20 plus points

Plus his history with cbs

From the Globe
Don't like it? Play better
I think Crowder has done a nice job of maximizing his talents. You just can't knock him for not playing better. He does about as good as he's able to.

Agree.....I think is playing at his max level now.  Jae can't be that thin skinned .    All players have people yelling all, kinds of stuff .  Think Melo in NY does not catch it from their fans nightly .

I think Jae is more worried about being  traded.   Which every announcer on TV says Boston needs another star to compete.   He probably feels he is in the bulls eye for a big trade deal.   This is very possible at some point.  But ...you can't worry as a player ....just do your job .

If Danny trades out Jae ....it will,be for Butler , who IS an upgrade .....Hayward is NOT .  Hayward is NOT worth the money they pay him there. .....it is their organization s bad judgement and obcesssion to over value him.

That's probably because Hayward will replace Crowder next year.....

(Or maybe this year).....

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Oh yeah, this is huge news set to dominate Boston Sports talk radio for the rest of the week huge news. Proud I broke it on CB.

Don't take too much credit, JSD - jpotter had this to say at 10:34pm in the game thread last night.

I guess Jae got a little upset that some of our fans were cheering on Hayward in the intros, presumably due to wanting him as a free agent. Going to be interesting to see how that would play out if getting him as a free agent put Jae back to the bench.

It was then discussed for a couple of pages there before you 'broke it' about 1 1/2 hours later in this thread.

As for the actual story, I am really disappointed in Jae. I get that everybody has the right to be upset about whatever is ailing them, but not on social media, and certainly not at a fan base who has supported him so much. He has gone from being my favorite Celtic to definitely not...bummer

Ha. Well, I'd rather have Crowder. He's a better all around player. Besides, they have a kid named Brown who could be better than Hayward in a year or two.

Crowder is a gutsy guy, but he should keep his mouth shut. No sense in creating media fodder. They feed on controversy. Some Celtics fans are just looking for another Larry Bird.

Hayward is an upgrade from Crowder. Hayward provides shot creation that the C's need if teams focus all their attention on IT in the playoffs. Crowder can hit open shots, and drive closeouts (which he is barely doing this year) but he's not an offensive creator. I think Hayward would be a great fit her.

I was at the game last night and I didn't notice the cheering for Hayward. It makes me nervous that Jae is feeling disrespected, because I think Jae and Hayward would play great next to each other. After the way Crowder reacted now I think it's more likely they deal Crowder if we sign Hayward than get both.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Jae Crowder wants to know what Jake from State Farm is wearing.

huh? how? The offensive stats arent even close... and
Gordon has better basic defensive stats (blocks/steals) and better advanced stats (DRtg per 100, Def +/-)

I don't get the obsession with Hayward.

Seriously, he's a good player. But he's not putting us over the Cavs. Jae gives us the better chance, actually.

I disagree ... We would stand a better chance with Hayward

In a 7 game series, Hayward might (not will, might) win us won more game. So now we lose 4-2 to the Cavs in the ECF vs 4-1. Why is incremental improvement the goal at this point?

I don't want to sign another guy for big money that doesn't bring us significantly closer to the promised land.

In theory, wouldn't Hayward's salary come close to Anthony Davis/Boogie's projected salary?
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I hope you mean he's not worth the money they will pay him (although I disagree with that), because he is absolutely worth the $16 million he is getting paid this year.  22.4ppg/6.0rpg/3.7apg on good shooting efficiency and with good defense is absolutely worthy of the max, but Hayward is getting paid less than guys like Loul Deng, Evan Turner, Tobias Harris, Enes Kanter, Greg Monroe, Evan Fournier, Joakim Noah, and Bismack Biyombo right now
I'm bitter.
