He's basically Sullinger 2.0 with a lot more in game hustle. I certainly wouldn't give up on him, but this isn't what I signed up for with the 6th pick and at some point you just don't offer the kind of contract he's looking for.

Too slow and unsure on the offensive end. Strong defender and hardworking. Has a place in the league.

Smart doesn't have a weight problem - he wears a flak jacket because he throws himself all over the court and switches onto bigs, and it makes him look a lot thicker than he is. Sullinger only looked like he had a flak jacket on under his jersey.

I'm pretty sure that Danny doesn't care about negative nancies that write on sports blogs.

Danny invested a lot in the player, and is capable of observing the player developing. His defense is very strong, and he's slowly showing an ability to hit free throws and open 3's. He needs a lot of work on shooting and hitting runners in the lane. Danny should pay IT to tutor Marcus.

I hope that Marcus will spend a ton of time shooting in the offseason, and will get leaner in anticipation of his pending Free Agency. I expect gradual improvement in both. Like Avery, I wouldn't be shocked if Marcus continues to improve well into his second contract.

Well, yes. I don't think including him in a trade for the "right" price would necessarily be giving up on a player. Al Jefferson for KG didn't mean that Danny didn't like Big Al.

Personally, I think Smart can be a special player, and am not impatient enough to trade him until we find the "right" player(s).

As for Danny, I don't think he wants to include him in a trade that doesn't yield a better player.

The guy has been in the NBA for less than 2 and a half seasons. He works his ass off.

We have a player that should make an All defensive team and is only 22 years old and in his 3rd year. Patience people.

I think this is why Marcus is so controversial. Completely one way on each side of the spectrum. Either he is really not that great, or he is some kind of potential legend in the making.

Issue is he is a great teammate and defender but he can't shoot or score. His fg% is record level bad and his defense is all NBA. He is the Rodman of PGs right now IMO. But he is young so that is what this thread is about. Don't give up on him just because of his current flaws.
