1 3 vs .500 or better Clubs says it all..
Until Ainge grabs his b@lls and trades for a Wing shooter and or a legit Post up big to help Horford it don't matter if you win 65 games, you ain't sniffing a ring anytime soon..
until you grab your b@lls and give us some options and trade proposals you might have for a wing shooter or a legit post up big to help horford, i aint giving up my crusade against your baseless Danny hate anytime soon..
I'm not a GM. Nobody knows who is trade bait or who might be up for trade. To speculate is a waste of everyone's time.
What I do know is, The Top Teir teams are built through trades and Veteran FA signs. A good example is Toronto.
what are you talking about?
Ainge signed Horford and traded for Crowder and Thomas.
Ainge has been one of the most prolific traders in the NBA the past 5 years and has signed Amir Johnson and Al Horford on the FA market in the past two years.
please make some logical arguments other than just blanket complaining because we arent true contenders yet.
We are in at least as good of a position as Toronto moving forward. Plus we have the same record vs 500and+ opponents.
Here is my ? to you with all sarcasm put aside.
The Big 3 era ended 4 seasons ago. Some would say the final 2 years of both Garnett and Pierce in Boston, both players were pretty much done.
That is a 6 year window. I'll give Ainge props for the Nets trade. My overall point is, this Team as constituted will not win a Ring anytime soon. How long do you wait?
Picks and waiting for a Durant to sign here or waiting on a pick to become the next Durant, Bird or Duncan is a waste of resources. This is why I say Ainge has some on this Board drinking the Kool - Aid. You have to TRADE to become great again.
Drafting the Smarts and Browns only delay the process. Most of the Top College Players enter the NBA way to early and the do not develop as they should.
Im not saying you Trade a top pick for a David Lee. Im saying you trade a Top pick for veteran talent and it does not have to be a Westbrook or Cousins type player...
2016: Lebron james
2015: Steph Curry
2014: Kawhi Leonard
2013: Lebron James
2012: Lebron James
2011: Dirk Nowitzki
2010: Kobe Bryant
2009: Kobe Bryant
2008: Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett
2007: Tim Duncan
2006: Dwayne Wade/Shaq
2005: Tim Duncan
2004: Chauncey Billups
When you trade a draft pick or an undeveloped guy for a veteran, you trade upside for garunteed production. It has some nasty results sometimes. Sometimes it leaves you with George Hill when you could have had Kawhi Leonard.
This Celtics team is very good. Al, Isaiah, Jae, Marcus, Avery is a very nice core but we need at least 1 more true star. You dont get that by trading picks unless that pick can be used to select a Ben Simmons or and Andrew Wiggins.
So to answer your question: how long do we wait? we dont.
you dont set a timer. This league is too hard to win, to set a day when you need to cash your chips in. You have to put yourself in the best position to acquire players than catapult you to contention. Ainge has done a terrific job acquiring value contributors which allow us to make the playoffs(this year we have 5th title odds via Vegas) and still maintain cap room to sign a bigtime FA. It happened last year with Al and this year we will be even better. While his Nets pick brilliance enables us to get a shot at the top end draft talent each year as well.
If Ainge rushes this and spins the Nets picks for some solid contributors that upside will be sacrificed and we will be left on the outside looking in with no cap space left and no real avenue to improve.
You cite Toronto as a model but theyve been rebuilding for twice as long as us and according to Vegas they arent even as good as us.
