One thing I'll say about the kid is that if we end up making a pipe dream trade for a guy like Paul George or Jimmy Butler, it's less of a direct route to starting for Jaylen. Likewise if the goal is to sign SF Gordon Hayward this Summer.  Whereas, if Murray develops, you could have theoretically included Bradley in a trade package and slotted in Murray as the long-term hope at SG.  I get why we took Jaylen, though.  He has potential and positionally it made more sense taking a SF than another guard.

i feel if we traded for either of those guys you listed, we would have to give up either Jaylen or Murray to make the deal happen.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

LB, do you think Jaylen Brown can be a player like Jimmy Butler?
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

The T'Wolves and Pelicans should be regretting passing on Murray for the old guys they ended up taking instead.

I've seen a lot of guys go through pre game workouts but I've never seen someone as physically gifted as Jaylen go through a workout at his age and look as impressive as he did. Even his shooting was good. He went through a stretch of about 20 threes that maybe 1 or 2 were misses. He was extremely impressive and if you had the chance to see one of these workouts you would know why Ainge and Stevens selected him.

We just need to have patience until he gets confident enough to do his thing.

I don't really follow College ball, but I read multiple draftniks who suggested all the picks in the 3-8 range were interchangeable.  Just based on stats and age, I wanted Jamal Murray, but I freely admitted I didn't have a valid opinion on the College prospects.  I'm bias towards players who can actually shoot and he was like a half decade younger than the other shooter everyone wanted (Buddy Hield).  Jaylen was young too and I trust Ainge so I never had a problem with the pick.

It's super early and a tiny sample size, but how do you think Murray would have fit with the team this year?  Just looking at his last 5 games vs Jaylen's last 5 seems like Murray is the first of a disappointing and weak 2016 draft class to start stepping up.

Murray's last 5:  18.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 blocks, 0.4 steals with 48%/52%/86% shooting.

Jaylen's last 5:  1.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0 blocks, 0 steals with 22%/33%/40% shooting.

Murray's 4 months younger than Jaylen.  Seems to be finding a grove.   Would he have too much trouble competing for minutes here?

I don't think Murray would get a lot of PT b/c he's a below average defender. We already have one in IT. They might score a lot together, but against a good team, the Celtics wouldn't like the matchup.

Jaylen/Avery/Jae/Marcus are all versatile. They can play with different lineups, and you don't have to hide them at the end of a game b/c of defensive ineffectiveness.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

i think he can be better than butler 5 years from now if we don't trade him.

I'd be happy if Jaylen is 80% of Butler.

I think NBAdraft.net's comp on Murray is pretty spot on: Ben Gordon.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

He is going to be amazing. He already has shown his amazing talent in some games.

Doesn't matter, for however long the celtics have sucked at molding talent. Who is the last drafted guy to blow up here in the last 10 years? Probably Rondo, AB and maybe smart. The celtics trade for talent and always look to compete, they don't have the time for young guys to play and make a  impact.

I like the brown pick and also like Murray but I don't think either would make it here. Unless your a Defence first guy, you will not see the floor as the rest of the players are competing.

I hope, I hope I'm wrong and Brown can make it here.
