Wow. I hope the Warriors don't win it all this year.

The Warriors are in for a long year if they're letting the criticism get to them to this extent before the season even begins.

Green is a punk. Pierce is right, guys want things handed to them, rather than competing.

I don't begrudge Draymond for taking issue with what Paul said.

It's very convenient for Paul to criticize other players for leaving their team for a better chance at a title.  He never had to do that.  When the Celts bottomed out in 2007, Danny Ainge found a way to add top talent that made the team a contender.

Later, when the team was set to re-enter a rebuilding period, Ainge traded Pierce to a team with playoff aspirations.

I suspect that if Ainge had never found a way to trade for KG, Paul would have been asking for a trade.  Or he simply would have left the team in free agency in 2010.

I really wish the Clippers had a better team to give Golden State a run for their money (as long as Pierce is on the roster)

Screw Draymond.  Talk crap about my binkie? You get my ire!  >:(

That must be why Pierce spent all that time in 2007 complaining about the fact that Ainge had ruined competitive balance in the Eastern Conference by trading for two superstars to put next to him.

Except none of those players had been playing on a good team the year before.

No one was leaving a contender.

Both moves were a trade.

Didn't Pierce want to leave before the trades happened?

On a lotto team.   Not a contender.

Green isn't known for being the most intelligent fellow. Case in point:

His brain literally hit "pause".
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Green needs to shut his donkey mouth up, and akin to his narrative here, no one cares what HE has to say.

The world has already decided that Durant's next ring is going to mean nothing in basketball lore outside of the GSW fans and their new legion of fair-weathers. Too many great legends have came in and have done that same feat(winning a championship) so much more impressively that Durant's star will just vaguely gleam next to the supernovas that was Bird, Paul Pierce... and now recently with his championship with CLE, LeBron James.

Did you actually read Pierce's words?  He was talking about leaving a contender.  KG & Ray were coming from absolutely atrocious teams (MN 32-50, missed playoffs; SEA 31-51, missed playoffs).   Durant was coming from a team that choked away a 3-1 lead in the conference finals.

Again, Pierce's words here.  Let's understand that.

Did you read what Pierce said?

Quote
I’m an old-school guy. I’m a competitor. I never believed that - when you want to be the best, you’ve to beat the best. That’s always been something that’s driven me. Today’s day and age, a lot of these guys are friends. That’s like if Bird decided to go play with Magic or something. These guys, I think the competition makes the game what is.

And Oklahoma, I felt like, was a contending team. They had Golden State on the ropes. I understand when you have great players on losing teams who are tired of losing, struggling in the playoffs every year. You’re the lone star. I’ve been in that position. I could have left Boston years ago, but I stuck it out. I just feel like when you’re that close, as a competitor, you don’t go join the team that just put you out.

That’s just me personally, but we’re living in a day and time where there’s a new generation. Guys I don’t think they are as hungry or competitive as my generation was, and that’s why you’ll probably see more of that.

The #1 rule of getting older: Things were better before.  Pierce's generation used to be the soft, me-first bunch who cared more about endorsements and stats than winning.  Now they get to pass the torch to the next batch. Someday an aging Draymond Green will be in front of a mic griping about how young players don't play hard or appreciate winning.  So it goes.
