Was listening to the Zach Lowe/Brian WIndhorst podcast and they discuss Embiid quite a bit. They compare him to a baby giraffe. Simply breathtaking to behold, but clearly has no idea what he's doing yet. They suggest that he's probably at like 10% of what he'll eventually become. SO yeah, obviously it remains to be seen if Embiid will reach his full potential. But a dude who is able to torch Steven Adams, Dwight Howard and bully big men like Vucevic within his first 3 games... he's already an impact player even if he doesn't reach his sky high ceiling.
If you want to compare him to a breathtaking young big man who hasn't yet reached his ceiling, compare him to Karl Towns. Bringing up Gerald Green is asinine.
You can't be serious.
Show me where I compared Embiid to Gerald.

And, surprise, surprise. Copy paste the forum link into your browser, and it takes you to one of his animated gifs where he accuses everyone in the thread of calling Embiid a bust.
I find it very frustrating that that sort of posting is allowed on such a quality board.
I'm kidding around. Relax.
You don't need me to point you in the direction of a post you made. I said that you'd have to be blind to not see the potential of that Philly team. Obviously referring to Embiid since this thread is about him, but also a reference to Ben Simmons... both are widely seen as transcendent prospects.
For whatever reason you decided to follow that up by saying anyone that couldn't see Gerald Green's potential was blind. It was an intentionally asinine comparison and you know it. Green was taken 18th. Few saw him as a "cant miss" prospect. Nobody realistically saw Gerald Green as a guy you could build a franchise around. There's a clear difference.
The player I used in the example is irrelevant.
My point wasn't as crystal clear as it could have been, but my point remains.
Be it Gerald, Oden, Ryan Leaf, or any athlete who has a lot of potential, that potential isnt always realized.
Yes the 76ers have a lot of potential with the players on their roster. To just assume that potential is going to be realized is foolish. Green is just one example of potential not being realized.
You are a smart guy, and I believe you are being intentionally obtuse.
I wouldn't use the word "potential" if I didn't understand there was a possibility it wouldn't work out for them.
But for someone to post some advanced stats based on 3 basketball games where Embiid is limited to 20 minutes, Okafor is limited to 14 minutes, Ben Simmons is months away from playing, Nerlens Noel is weeks away from playing, their starting PG still hasn't made his debut, and the team is undeniablly at least a year or two away from being competitive - is silly.
Anyone who doesn't see the obvious potential of that team at this point is blind.
You only bring up Gerald Green if you're attempting to be distasteful. When someone says "potential" it goes without saying that potential might not be fulfilled. It's merely the capacity to develop into something, not a guarantee it will happen.
If you want to bring up a relevant comparison, discuss Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. They have a superstar and still haven't become a contender.
