Even Doc isn't stupid enough to trade Griffin for Gay. Or is he?

That doesn't make sense. Why would he want Gay over Crowder? If anything, it should be Gay PLUS Crowder going to LAC with draft compensation + Amir going to Sacramento, which would make more sense all around.

I also don't like any deal that loses us Crowder with nothing coming back for us at the 3. We are seriously thin there.

Pierce coming back to Boston-?

That makes sense.....PP back to Boston.

Hollinger's analysis is garbage. I mean, how does adding Griffin while subtracting Johnson, Crowder and Young result in 11 fewer wins next year? That is absolutely ridiculous.

The analysis is based of PER and position, so trading our SFs from last year would leave us with Brown, who has a PER of 0

Edit: Never mind, they view Pierce as a SF (even though he's a small ball PF at this point.  IDK then

I don't know when exactly it flips but I know in the preseason last year the trade machine was producing really bizarre projections because it's based on current season and no one had played yet.

The only way the numbers seem to add up on this is if you send Amir with Crowder to Sacramento, and Jerebko with Gay to the Clippers. So we'll basically have no bench. Or a starting SF.

We could get a starting SF next offseason in Hayward. As for this season, perhaps we sign Vince Carter to a veteran minimum and split the minutes with Brown. We would have fun slugging it out with Toronto for second place. Next year, who knows...
No. If you add Griffin, there's no more cap space next year.

Yeah, you're right. I momentarily forgot that Griffin's contract expires next year and have always imagined us going after Boogie and adding Hayward next year, which IS doable since Boogie only costs $16,784,031 next year, whereas God knows how much Griffin would cost next year (Probably $28 mil/season?).

Yeah, we gotta go all-in with Boogie rather than Griffin, preferably without losing anybody other than Johnson, Jerebko, Olynyk and Rozier. It enables us to add Hayward next year.

Griffin really makes no sense when you consider we would not be able to add anybody else to the team next year other than draft picks, if we have any...

Griffin is a major addition, a skilled scorer, passer and athlete who has been saddled with a terrible coach in Glenn Rivers.

I'm for adding him, with the Westbrook caveat that he's open to a new deal, and worrying about next year then. He makes this team markedly better.

Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

You know, we might be able to add Cousins AND Hayward this year. That would enable us to make a run for the championship this year while ensuring we have Hayward's Bird Rights next year.

We would probably need to trade Brown, Johnson, Jerebko, and Olynyk (Brown would be redundant, anyway, with a commitment to a 26 year old Hayward while retaining Crowder; if we are making a championship run, we should stick with Crowder off the bench rather than Brown). We would likely have to stash Yabasule and/or Zizic. We would also presumably give up all but two of our draft picks the next four years, of course, since that combination of players alone is not getting you Cousins AND Hayward (although a combination of the players with our arsenal of first-round picks might get us there; heck, the Jazz might trade Brown straight-up for Hayward if they are certain Hayward is jumping ship next summer).

If we somehow pulled it off, here is a quick breakdown without any second round picks (perhaps we sign Jackson while stashing Bentil and Nader) and veterans who sign the minimum after we settle on our rookies (who knows, we might be able to attract someone like Ray Allen and/or Vince Carter since this would clearly be a top five team next year):

Horford $26,540,100
Cousins $16,784,031
Hayward $16,073,140
Bradley $8,269,663
Thomas $6,587,132
Crowder $6,500,000
Smart $3,578,880
Rozier $1,906,440
Young $1,825,200
Hunter $1,200,240
Mickey $1,200,000
Total $90,464,826

I don't trust this dude. Any sensible reporter wouldn't be attacking and doubting the knowledge of his followers.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Can we get some cliff notes to this point? Not that trust that radio producer. Anyone more credible reporting anything?

If you trust Smitty731 on RealGM (who is @KeithSmithNBA on twitter), then there's someone else you can read into. He's saying Griffin.

A fairly well known RealGm writer/poster/moderator, who is at Summer League, is claiming that we're going after Griffin as part of a three team deal with the Kings, in which the Clippers would get Rudy Gay.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

It's more difficult to find intelligent sensible life in this world than you know. Especially in the media or on the internet.  I'm not saying Lip****z is it either.  But wouldn't surprise me if we are targetting Cousins or Griffin at all.  I'd rather Cousins myself.

Rudy Gay for Griffin sounds nuts on the surface.

Reevaluating: This dude hasn't given any updates since he began responding to subtweets, correct?

Also: Smitty hasn't provided any substantial details besides Blake Griffin (perennial All-Star) for Rudy Gay?

Plausible. Very plausible.

Picking up Griffin & Pierce and losing Amir, Crowder, RJ, Rozier, KO shows us MINUS 19 wins?

Again. It's fun to talk about rumors but there is zero chance Smitty is legit the guy from 98.5 is also not legit. Blake Griffin is not coming. Doc loves his all stars too much to deal him. Plus they seem to want to keep Amir and Jae who would need to go to make room financially. This is the roster going into camp as much as I would like for them to add a game changer.
