We all talked about the nets overpaying for good free agents this offseason. Names like Conley, rondo, Barnes, Crawford and Rose were floated throughout the season as potential overpays. They got Lin, crabbe and possibly Tyler Johnson. They lost Thad young and Jack. How can we not be over the moon?

Eh. I honestly felt each move was somewhere between pretty good and kinda bad. None were egregious, none were steals.

Dissapointed with Crabbe because I think he has potential. Lin was whatever. Miami could match Tyler Johnson.

Nets for me are still a bottom 3 talent.

Crabbe would help them.  Lin should be an improvement over the PG they had there last season. Don't be shocked if they add Sullinger or something.

I think they did really well. The Lin deal is great: he's talented AND it's great value. The Crabbe deal is an overpay, but he's very good and provides shooting that they beyond desperately needed. The Johnson deal is pretty good. The Booker deal is okay. Losing Thad Young is a big deal, but overall, they improved. I still see them as a bottom 5 team, but they should be better than last year.

They did really well? Seriously? What would you say if they had gotten Barnes and Conley?

These signings make their team no better or worse, considering the departures. Lin is hardly a team leader figure, and besides Lopez, who is supposed to step in to that role for them with Thad gone?

Every bad team also got at least one top 5-10 pick better except for the Nets. I really don't see how they manage to have anything better than one of the five worst records in the league.

The Crabbe deal is only an offer sheet, right? Aren't the Trail Blazers almost guaranteed to match it?

I don't think Lin + Booker + Levert does anything but make them even or worse than with Young + Jack. Crabbe could push them over the edge though.

I really have a hard time seeing how they improved so far unless they get both Johnson and Crabbe.  They are losing Joe Johnson, Thad Young and Jack for a full season while they had some of those guys last year at times.  I know Jack and Johnson were not good players, but they are still somewhat serviceable.  With Lin, one of T. Johnson or Crabbe and Booker I do not see them getting any better and I think they will rely on Lopez even more making it likely they either trade him or he gets hurt.

I think the better news is that a team like the Lakers have added some actual players in Deng and Mozgov as well as bringing in a top tier rookie in Ingram.  I have a hard time seeing them being worse than the Nets next season barring any other moves to come.

There's plenty of time for them to continue overpaying lesser FAs in the coming weeks.

They are likely to lose T-Rob as well . .. Spurs were apparently looking at him. I still like his potential at the 4 or 5.

Seems like their best bet is to fill out the roster with low cost, potential high reward draft busts like Hairston, Bennett, T-Rob (again), McAdoo, Cleanthony and the like. Like Evan Turner, some of those gambles do pan out and going in that direction will at least make them interesting to watch.

They've got nothing to lose .. . and not much sense in paying big bucks for mediocre guys at this point.

I saw someone mention that they were upset how good the Nets offseason was and how its going to negatively effect our picks. I just don't understand that logic at all, these deals are miserable for the Nets. Lin, ok go for it. But Tyler Johnson who has played 68 games over 2 years getting a 50 million dollar deal. Are you kidding me? They're going to be terrible.

I would ask how the hell they landed (somewhat) legitimate max players. I know some people thought they had a shot at guys like Conley, but I thought that was ridiculous. They weren't getting guys with better options. All things considered, they did really well.
