Nets just lost out on Sullinger, too. It's hard to see then completing any move now that would take them out of a bottom three team right now.

I think when you say bottom three you mean bottom one.

I myself do, but others on here aren't as convinced that Philly and LA will be better than them still. So I went conservative with the estimate.

With both Crabbe and Johnson matched and no Sully, I'm coming around on bottom one. They're going to be so, so bad.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

This is great...they stank last year...they will stink this year...and the year after that as well.

Stink...stank...stunk.

There really isn't much left for Nets out there. I could see them trying to make a run for Waiters (RFA) or Jordan Hill now.

I thought they would be better than the 76ers and possibly the Lakers/Suns but after losing Johnson, Crabbe, and not signing Sully I think they are honestly the worst team right now.

I think it's a pretty safe bet the C's will end up with one of Giles, Jackson, Tatum or Fultz which is amazing considering they will be most likely coming off a 50 win campaign and deep playoff run....

life just keeps getting better everyday.  ;D

i guess the earlier argument that the nets had lots of cap space and would bring in at least a few good free agents, thereby catapulting them to 30ish wins, just didnt hold up.

this team's best bet is to not worry about wins and loses and pull a pseudo-tank by building up so-so free agents and trading them. a bit like the celtics rehabilitated crawford jordan and turner (though no trade on turner).

turn redeemed players into some sort of draft picks.

trade lopez for anything credible, then begin the slow digging out process.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Nets are getting desperate it seems:
Quote
@MikeAScotto: Sources: Former No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett and the Nets have mutual interest. He's played for Canada in FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Don't know why they didn't go for Sullinger instead. Clearly a more proven player than Bennett.

I stand by that argument. Just because it did not happen doesnt mean that it couldnt have. I mean it was wise for Boston to pursue KD. I think we could have gotten KD. However, we didnt.

Now most knew Brooklyn was never gonna be in the conversation for a guy like Durant or Horford or Conley, but I think they could have been in the conversation for guys who didnt get full maxes like Rondo, Howard etc.

I dont even want to trade the Brooklyn pick now. We should wait till the trade deadline or after the season we could very well land the number one pick.

I'm pretty confident that Philly and certainly LA will be better than NYN.  Memphis looks OK.  Portland has upgraded a few spots.  NO Pels could be pretty bad but it all depends on Davis.  An injury to him makes that team nosedive.

Yeah, bottom one actually looks realistic.

Yeah, Im now turning my attention to the tank watch.

The only team left on it as far as I can tell is Sacramento. If they trade Demarcus and Rudy Gay they will really suck. After that its Denver? They are too deep to reach Net levels of suckitude.

Phoenix Philly and LA are all dangerously young.

I honestly think the Lakers will be way more competitive this year than last year. I just really don't see them intentionally tanking again to try and ensure they keep a top 3 draft pick (and the signings of Deng and Mosgov for big dollars kind of confirms that). Last year they had a pretty amazing stealth tanking job. They had Byron Scott schuffling the lineup constantly to make sure they never got in any sort of rhythm. They had Kobe launching 35 shots a game at low efficiency in the name of the retirement tour. It was all pretty brilliant. I am not super high on Randle as a player, but I think Russell and Clarkson have enough talent that they will approach average NBA starter play from the guard spots. I think Deng is probably a slightly above average starting NBA center while Mosgov is below average but an upgrade over Hibbert. The only starter the Nets have that you could say is above average (or even close to average) is Lopez.

Yes, yes, the Lakers will be fine! or to be more precise: good enough.  That's all we want, not more.  Mitch Kupchak is doing well (for us).   ;)
