Just because we got Horford does not mean we can ignore the development of our youth.
It also doesn't mean you give valuable roster spots to players that won't contribute to the team this year. Yabusele can develop overseas playing against established professionals. Bentil and Jackson can develop overseas or decide to sign a contract in the D League. You can develop players without having them on the roster. Look at what the C's did with Iverson and Thornton.

Sure we can - we're really good at it, lol ;D. Oh for the days when rookies actually played in their first year for the Celtics.  It was a magical time.  I remember it well.
Celtics have a long history of playing rookies, when the rookies had immense talent. Except for Brown and Smart, the Celtics havent had a rookie with immense talent since Rondo. Smart played as a rookie and so will Brown. The others? They dont have immense talent. They will have to earn their time and most likely sit most of the year or play in the D League.

Heck, I remember when the draft was all 22 year old seniors only and even then rookies would sit their first year just to get used to the difference between college and pros. Nowadays rookies are 19, undeveloped and teams and fans feel the need to play them even though they arent ready. Yup, nothing like the good ole days.

Wait a second, I thought you said that players had to earn minutes on this team, regardless of draft position, but now you say that guys like Brown and Smart will and have played because they have 'immense talent'?

Also, in terms of Smart, and I'm trying to be kind, here, lol, I guess that you could say that that's subjective, but he was nowhere near Rondo as a rookie and still isn't, imo.
Not moving the goalposts. When highly regarded 1st round players with immense talent come in and show from the get go they deserve minutes, then they have earned them. But those without immense talent, those players that are often chosen late in the first round, the second round or are undrafted, they have to earn a spot by showing they are better than the guys in front of them.

Yabusele has the physical body to play in the NBA today, as we've seen from SL.  But he's still a pretty raw player.  I feel like we are going to continue to let him develop overseas.  And then reap the rewards in 2017.  This is more giving him a taste for the action so he comes back hungry to earn a roster spot next season imo.

I love the prospect. It's obvious what Ainge & Stevens see in the kid. He can contribute to winning when it's all said and done. Obviously he's still real raw & young, but keep the development going.

I think we'll love this kid in a couple years once he's comfortable & learns.

My wife collects nerd things like comicbooks and action figures.  We go to Comiccons pretty often.  She's had her picture taken with or gotten 8x10's signed by a bunch of people she likes.  She has a "Captain Wall" where a handful of those pictures hang.

Nathan Fillion - "Captain Reynolds" - Firefly
Patrick Stewart - "Captain Picard" - Star Trek
John Barrowman - "Captain Jack Harkness" - Doctor Who/Torchwood
Edward James Olmos - Technically "Commander" Adama and not a Captain - BSG

A couple weeks ago Isaiah Thomas was at a local sports card shop here in Washington State, so I stopped by and got him to sign an 8x10.   I stuck his picture on the Captain Wall, much the chagrin of my wife.   Technically, I don't think Thomas has officially been named Captain of the Celtics, but I think he participates in the typical "Captain duties" assigned to NBA team Captains.  Also, since I pointed out that Adama is actually a "Commander", I felt Thomas belonged.  Coincidentally, as I walked by the "Captain Wall" a couple days ago, I accidentally caused Thomas' picture to fall off.   I'm taking it as a sign.  Unless Thomas is officially named Captain, he doesn't belong.  My wife was right.

The kid can knock down 3's , drive and finish with both hands, can switch on D and has an NBA body. I want him on this roster!

Keeps getting comfy. Easy to see why you draft this man. He's got a shot. Skill set is on point
