I think Nader will walk. I think has had enough of Sully we might keep him for the QO, but no raise for him. Why on God's green earth would you reward the habitual breakdowns and weight gain and lack of conditioning on Sully. So far, no one else wants him, which ought to show his value to the rest of the league. I am fine with the QO but no way should we invest in him in the long term given what we have seen.
We hear it every thing, I am going to get in shape, it's my metabolism. Maybe this year the buck stops here.
The idea of Sully is because his cap hold is lower than Zeller's, which might enable us some flexibility we might need with other moves (like signing 2nd rounders to three+ year contracts).
The idea of giving Sully a "raise" or a big contract is because you need players with hefty contracts to be able to match up other expensive talented players in a trade, so here comes in Sully, the disposable salary aggregator.
All that said, no, Danny shouldn't and I think will not give anyone a multi-year contract without non-guarantees/team options after the first year.
He shouldn't and probably won't commit more salary to next year's cap, particularly so we can have enough cap space to go after another max level player.
So the only reason you would "reward" Sully, is because it benefits US to do so.
