God no.

This team needs to blend established players and youth. Keep things exciting and still develop the young guys to be stars. I'm all set with the current roster.

IT/Rozier/Jackson
AB/Smart/Hunter
Crowder/Brown/Young
Ko/JJ/Bentil
Hordford/AJ/Mickey

Let Rozier, Smart, and Brown really grow off the bench. I wish the team had a better longer term PF prospect but Bentil and Mickey may fill in some mins there.

Stash Yab, Thornton, Zizic, Nader

I'd switch AJ and KO but aside from that I'm with you. I could see a consolidation of two edge guys into a backup PF on a rookie contract if one is available. I'd be happy to leave as is now though
I'm OK to roll with this roster.  The AJ/KO positioning doesn't really matter in Brad's system, as I think both get time at both frontcourt positions.  James Young will be extremely lucky to stay with this team through the entire season but maybe there is still hope for the kid.  Very excited to see more of Jackson and Bentil.  Rozier's stock is shooting up during SL and could bring back some value, but Jackson needs to show a lot more to take the backup PG spot.
Agreed on positioning, I just meant I'd start Amir over KO. I think KO is much better as a core piece coming off the bench than as a starter where his defence tends to get targeted.
I still have a soft spot for James Young. I understand he's on the bubble, especially given the roster crunch, but I still believe he can be a solid wing threat on offence and hope he can evolve defensively. This is certainly the last chance he gets to show some kind of improvement though.
Rozier and Smart are going to be on the ball much more this year, we'll see how it goes. I think Brad has done a good job of not over-exposing Smart in that regard so I'm hoping he's ready for the increased role.
I haven't yet seen much of Jackson and Bentil, I think it's an uphill struggle for both to make the roster depending on the rest of the summer but I hope they are given a shot at least

I think young takes some undeserved flack in Boston. He's really young. They talk about him like " he sucks, he's dumb, etc." I'll be surprised if he doesn't figure it out eventually and be a quality rotation guy in the NBA. It's just probably happening for some other team. I think he has a shot at a Gerald green career. It was a nice try by the celts.

Here's my list (in no particular order)
1. Ty Lawson an extra ball handler in case Rozier/Smart not ready)
2. JR Smith: not a lot of money left on the market but we could still give him a big one year deal and Dunleavy could be his replacement.
3. Thornton: probably won't complain if he doesn't play but provides us bench scoring
4. Terrence Jones: Played really good in the playoffs the year before. Young player with good athleticism.
5. Jordan Hill: good rebounder
6. Festus Ezeli: good center but might be out of our price range
7. all the restricted guys: if their team doesn't want to offer them a contract try to work out a one year deal for big money.

Via Trade
1. Tyreke Evans: he would fit into our cap space and could help with back up ball handling. If he's finally healthy he could be a steal. He's on a one year deal so he keeps cap space for next year.
2. Rudy Gay: The Kings are rumored to be shopping him, he could be an upgrade from Jerebko's role. He's also on a one year deal.
3. Kosta Koufos: one year deal, true center. Sacramento has too many centers now

I don't think people should be expecting big moves, at best I think we will get a back of the rotation guy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Should be interesting to see if the Celtics exercise their right to guarantee James Young's 4th year by October 31st. That should tell us all exactly how, much faith the C's have in Young ability to get better.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We are in kind-of a weird position. We have a great player base that should easily be able to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but many of our back-ups are 1st and 2nd year players who may or may not be ready for an increased role on an upper-level Eastern Conference team.

Basically we need somebody who is okay with not playing at all, but who we would need to produce at a decent level if our young players aren't ready. Also, this player has to be okay with taking a one year deal (or a 1 + 1).

I'm not sure how realistic this is but I'm an advocate of sign and trade deals with Zeller and Sully for players in the last year of their contracts to preserve cap space for 2017.

Guys like Zach Randolph, Tyreke Evens, Gallinari (Player option for 2017 season), Rudy Gay(same deal as Gallo), and other players like that.

Roll with what we got unless there is a trade. If there is a free roster spot I want Hump back on a 1+1.

I'm a big advocate of Lance Stephenson or trading for Tyreke Evans if NO is looking to dump him.

More on Lance though, I know the baggage that comes with him, but there is clearly talent there, and he still has time to grow into his potential as a player (I think he's only 26?).  There are only a handful of organizations I would advocate taking a flyer on him but with our structure of Wyc, Danny, Brad, and then leaders in our lockerroom like Al and IT2, I think we're one of those franchises that have enough support in place to give him the best opportunity to thrive.

Worst comes to worst we send him home or cut him, but the upside is there where if we could get him signed to something like a 2yr/$20M deal with the 2nd year being a team option, I think it would be worth the risk.

In the past I would have turned my nose up at signing Hill but we could use another serviceable big man that may not require a lengthy deal for big money.  I would prefer Ezeli but I think we'd need to offer 4 years and probably $70 mill to get him.

This roster is set after picking up the Johnson and Jerekbo contracts. Unless a big trade came through... The Celtics need to further develop their young players Mickey, Rozier, Hunter, and Brown. Only set to lose Turner, Sullinger, and Zeller or most likely anyway..

15 man..
Thomas, Bradley, Smart, Horford, Crowder, Jerekbo, Johnson, Rozier, Mickey, Hunter, Olynck, Brown, Young, Yabuesele,Bentil

I'd rather see Miller, Jackson on the roster than Young and I think the French Tank needs to go back overseas for a year.

Yabu is going overseas, I'd be shocked if we didn't sign one more veteran as of now we are a really really young team. The roster that you listed seems solid, except if we have an injury we could end up counting on guys to play who just aren't ready yet.
