Still sounding very much like the Celtics plan to guarantee Amir Johnson and Jonas Jerebko for next season.

How does this impact the rest of the offseason?

good question. i dont think, in the short term, i hinders the celtics' chance for a trade. these two guys are on very, very good contracts, given the monopoly money that is being passed out lately.

as far as the season and if we assume they stay, it gives continuity and depth to the celtics, especially up front. so for me, it is a positive either way - the team is better or the team can trade and get better.

It means the Celtics would have about $10 million left in cap space, not counting Sully or Zeller.  They would also have 13 players under contract (including Brown), and also Jackson and Bentil to potentially sign.

Can we sign and trade Sully in a deal with Chicago?

S/T Sully, Rozier, Brooklyn 2018, Boston 2018 1st, Boston 2019 1st.

Sully is out the door, so this is strictly to match salary from our perspective at this point.
Rozier has serious potential to blow up, and considering Rose just skipped, and Rondo is on thin ice out the gate, the bulls may have high interest in Rozier. Two quality prospects to develop in year one of their trade. Then the picks.

I would consider swapping the Brooklyn 2017 for the 2018 and the celtics first rounders. The idea was to get our own first rounder sooner to add to our roster depth/development.

I didn't see where they told Jerebko but I assume they did. It is said that they told Amir he would be guaranteed if we didn't sign two max players.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Gary Washburn tweeted this a couple of days ago. It may have been the source of an article I read that said he was told he'd be kept, with the qualifiers dropped.  I can't find that article any more, however.

Barring any more major #Celtics moves, consensus is that Jonas Jerebko will return next season for $5 million, which now looks like bargain

Can Jerebko and Amir now be traded?  With the contracts that went out this past week, both Okafor and Butler are great bargains. Would love to see a trade for both.

Butler
Amir, Bradley, Nets 2018, Celtics 2020

Okafor
Jerebko, Rozier, 2017 Minny 2nd rounder, 2019 Clippers 1st

Philly will probably hold out for Smart. Chicago asks for both Nets picks?  Regardless, lineup would be loaded.  Sign Sullinger for 1 year to back up Okafor.

IT.  (Smart or Rozier). Jackson
Butler. RJ
Crowder. Brown
Horford. Olynyk. Bentil
Okafor. Sullinger.  Mickey. Iverson

Yabusele and Zizic get placed overseas. Young waived. 15th spot is used to sign the extra ball handler or shooter the team needs.

Yes and yes, and Chicago might want Crowder too to replace Butler.

I see no reason why Amir and Jonas couldn't be traded a minute after officially guaranteeing their contracts. They're not free agents signing a new contract. Just altering the status of an existing contract.

Doesn't Wade to the Bulls mean they aren't rebuilding? If Ainge's offer didn't entice them on draft day, it won't entice them now.

Yup, but us CBers just love to hash things out well beyond their useful life, like the draft.  ;)

Except they aren't contending with that team. Rondo over 30, Lopez not that good, and Wade 35+ and out side of Bulter, a meh team.  It's Wades farewell tour, the Bulls are using him to fill the seats. It's all for show, and unless they get a Cousins to help Butler out they wont be that good.

Now will DA get him this summer? Probably not. Could Butler ask for a trade by the deadline. YEah I could see that happening.

Signing Wade and Rondo is a sign they are rebuilding. They just don't know it yet. Might as well get a head start on the future and trade Jimmy now. Use Wade to sell tickets for next 2 years.

Their front court got taken to lunch today by Portis and Cooley. Maybe that will encourage Ainge to deal some of his back court for some front court help. There isn't much coming from this bunch.

Frankly, I was shocked last year when Portis fell to them, and Ainge picked a guard. But then I was also shocked this year when he bypassed Dunn and picked Brown. I'm still shocked after watching Brown a couple games. But it's still early.
