If we really want Okafor, we should wait him out until the trade deadline, or sometime mid-season. His value should only decrease, seeing as how his minutes will deplete from sharing the floor with Embiid/Noel/Simmons. There's just not enough minutes to keep him at his stats, IMO. Then we offer Philly something like Rozier and a future Celtics 1st or two.
Can't possibly trade Brooklyn picks now. I would trade ONE BKN pick (and smaller parts) for Jimmy Butler, but IMO, if either team wanted #3, they should have lowered their asking prices. A Jahlil Okafor for one year is not worth more than the potential of who we will pick (as a virtual lock) at #1-5. This upcoming draft is full of superior talent to anything Okafor will be.
Ange did great holding the line this off season. He recognized that he was in the position of power with his respective trade partners (Bulls and Sixers), as the Celtics are a far more developed and competitive team. Chicago and Philly are in earlier stages of putting together a quality brand, and at this point, I'd give Philly the upper hand to do something special.
I think once Chicago realizes that their best bet is to tank as hard as they can, and go for a top 5 pick, they will warm up to the idea of trading Butler for a BKN pick, to then start a proper rebuild with two top 5 picks.
