jaylen is way ahead of marcus offensively as a scorer and slasher.  Not so much defensively which is what was expected from me.

I'm not sure that they're all that different, to be honest, in terms of 'skills' ::) ;D, except for the fact that Brown has the athleticism and explosion to actually be able to get to the basket, lol ;D.

Agreed. I actually think this kid is gonna be a stud.

Love how things got chippy after the big dunk attempt, too

Hopefully he develops faster than any player in our roster. Kobe became an all-star in his second year and he was 19 at that time. He have the tools and mentality to develop fast.

Friendly reminder that Summer League doesn't really tell you if a player is going to be good... it just kind of shows you who is going to suck.

Consider that the league is made up primarily of undrafted amateurs.   Most of the guys playing we ok in College, but not good enough to be drafted.    So if you're the #3 pick in the amateur draft, common sense says that you were probably one of the top amateur players.   These are the same peers you were better than in College - so you should be better than them in Summer league.   If a top draft player DOESN'T put up big stats in Summer league, it's time to start panicking.

Brown looked good.  He's supposed to look good.  Hopefully it eventually translates to playing against pros.

I agree with Lar here (words I don't often type).

Summer league isn't going to tell you who is a star, it's going to tell you who is a bust.

I think we can chalk up Clench's and others hate to a lack of patience. A few people vocally wanted Danny to trade for their personal binkie on draft night. When Ainge elected to use the pick instead, those folks transferred that hate to the pick. So it wouldn't matter who we drafted at #3 - Bender, Brown, Hield, etc. - they'd be saying the exact same things about that player.

I wasn't a Brown fan at the start of the draft process. But the more I watched and the more I heard, I've come to believe that this kid found a great fit in Boston. Perfect place and a great system for showcasing his talents. He's also one of those guys whose skills translate better to the NBA than they do college basketball. Westbrook was one of those guys - 12.7 ppg, 4.3 apg as a soph yet he's all-world in the NBA. I think Brown can make a similar leap (though I'm not predicting he will be as good as Westbrook) so I've put my prediction in my sig. We will see how it pans out.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Great situation for a 19 year old to be in.  He doesn't have to be the focal point on offense.  Brown will be backing up a hard nosed veteran learning from crowder and Brad Stevens.  He is going to demand pt right away because of his athleticism.  I can see improvement in this kid as season goes, Danny addressed our worst depth position sf and is a great future building block.  Brown seems to have the attitude that top notch players have (oh Paul pierce tweeting  ;)   ) .  So if he puts the work into his game that I do expect him to we are going to have quite the player in 2-3 years.

The athleticism is real, handle looked pretty good, and his ability to grab and go is awesome. He needs some work, but not a bad start.

That also stood out to me...and with his long strides...he can punish teams in transition.

There's a lot of work to do but there's a lot to work with.

I heard the comparison a lot when he was in college, but he could be like the wing version of Westbrook. Super aggresive, not always in control, some bad plays and tunnel vision at times. But if he does what he does well at a high enough level, he could be a star despite never shedding those flaws.

Yeah. Lol. What he said. Free throws. A lot of missed free throws.

He was like 11-17... I hardly call that "a lot of missed free throws"...

Ok. He missed a good amount of his free throws.

So your take away is that he missed 6 free throws, not that he went to the line 17 times and attacked the basket aggressively throughout the game? Awesome stuff.

Look I am not saying this should be our expectation for Jaylen, but a young t mac did not score above 16 a game until his 21 year old season (4th in the league). In those first three years he shot below 28 pct from 3 twice.

I don't expect Jaylen to be t mac but I also think it's ridiculous to be calling a 19 year old a bust after a summer league game where he went to the line 17 times which is amazing IMO.

There are plenty of examples of all stars who at age 18-20 did NOT show us what they would become and then took a leap.

We might have the most unrealistic board this side of the Kentucky Wildcats sometimes.

He looked pretty good to me.

Kobe did not set the world on fire his first year and I don't recall Bulter reaching god like status either.

The confidence factor is not lacking , like in some many gifted players.

AB is a nice player and it took several years to work him into the player he is,

Brown is far ahead of AB at the same age .   AB could not make a layup to save his life for like two years or more.

Young tho .....lacks the mental makeup to push forward like AB and become special.   Rozier is going to be a good player he has no quit in him.

The only issue I had with Rozier is he was out of control a couple of times and also tried a couple of horrible cross court passes. Once he learns to bounce pass instead he'll be fine. He shot the ball really well.

Jaylen is going to be a beast not unlike TMac. I like that comparison.

Someone probably posted this, but its highlights of Brown vs. Simmons in The City of Palms Championship game. Brown's team wins and I think it's smart drafting a player that's familiar with Ben Simmons (the league's next... whoever).

I don't know summer league gives you a chance to see players in different environments.  It's pretty clear jaylen is more talented than other guys. He isn't a Durant level athlete.  Marcus was pretty clear too what his strengths were.

KO has some really good summer leagues and it transferred over too.  Rj looks a lot like that this year.

It depends on how you look at it.  I can tell who is going to do what in ways.  Sometimes its hard to tell.

I can already tell Rozier every time he steps on the court in whatever situation he puts up numbers. That's just who he is. His upside is somewhat limited but good player.

He's more athletic than Durant dude. The guy is only 19. Watch what happens when he reaches 23, that should be when we see his maximum athleticism.
