Devin Booker sounding very confident in post game interview. He scored 28 of the Suns 86 points.
I love Booker.
He's in the mold of Klay Thompson. I love him too.
Yeah, I think he can be even better than Thompson. His handle and ability to score inside is much better than Thompson's, who is mainly a shooter.
better than Klay? Id be shocked.
I think he's a lot more offensively versatile than Klay, while still being a similarly-skilled shooter. Where Klay is more of a pure shooter, I think Booker is an actual scorer, who also has the potential to be an elite shoter.
The only concerning thing with Booker is that as his usage rate rose last year, his 3P% plummeted.
Well, I'm not sure how much you watched them at the end of last year, but I think a lot of us did due to the draft implications with Brooklyn. If so, you realize that he was basically full-on "Kobeing" the last part of the season lol I remember watching the last several games that he played, and it seemed like he literally had the ball in his hands 75% of the time. I know his turnover rate seemed much higher toward the end of the season due to playing such a primary role in the offense, but I would imagine that that played some sort of role in his 3P%, too.
Yes, his USG% skyrocketed to 27% in March and April, which is an immense load for a 19 year-old rookie to carry, but for the last month and a half of the season, he shot about 29% from three. That's pretty pitiful, especially for a guy regarded as a shooter. This is the very reason why I agree with you that he's much more of a scorer than a shooter. His stroke is super smooth, but his performance as a rookie gives me some pause, some doubt that he'll ever be an elite shooter. I wholeheartedly believe he'll be a great scorer, but if he can't maintain his shooting as his USG% increases, I doubt he'll ever achieve the status of an elite shooter. Regardless of what exactly he becomes, he'll be a fun player, one that I look forward to watching.
