Hey guys. I wasn't sure whether or not to make this a new topic of dicussion but apparently Richard Jefferson sent out that Durant is headed to the Warriors via snapchat.

https://twitter.com/DanLifshatz/status/749822301307371520

Anyone here have snapchat?

Apparently he said KD to GSW, then he said something along the lines of "I'm just guessing".

Why is Richard Jefferson trolling?

Nobody ever accused LeBron of joining the Heat, because he couldn't beat the Heat.   LeBron was leading a 66 win Cavs team with Mo Williams as his 2nd best player.  The 4 years prior to LeBron joining the Heat that team managed to win:  44 wins, 15 wins, 43 wins and 47 wins.  They hadn't gotten out of the 1st round in 4 years.  They also had to give away Michael Beasley (their former #2 pick) for a 2nd rounder despite the fact he had just put up averages of 15 points and 6 rebounds - they did that just to make cap space.  Would be the equivalent of us giving away Marcus Smart for a 2nd rounder just to make cap space.

But if Durant joins the Warriors (as it's starting to seem more and more likely from "experts"), they will absolutely accuse him of joining the team he couldn't beat.  Like if Jordan had said "no mas" and joined the Pistons after years of abuse from them.   Durant will be seen as pathetic.  They will destroy him.   Even if he has a great season and helps them win a championship - the damage will be done.   Steph will get the credit for the title.

Seems like Bulpett was the first to insist the decision would be tomorrow when others were sticking to the general 24-36 hour original timeline or expecting an announcement tonight.

Does it mean anything that a Boston guy had the more specific timing right first?

This is what I was thinking. Bulpett was the first to say it's tomorrow and it's not based off money? Then Blakely tweet out that Ainge is at the summer league, got off the plan with a grin on his face?

Honestly, "it's not about money" is best news for teams other than the Celtics, who have max cap space.  The Heat don't, for instance.  The Warriors can, but have to jump through a lot of hoops to get there.

That said, my source is confident it's down to Celtics and OKC.  KD was ready to choose Celtics today, but is having a really tough time leaving an organization and city he genuinely likes.
Don't play games with my heart like this... and also ..

Not saying that Salt doesn't have contacts...but I'm always skeptical. I believe the Celtics are out. Not even a finalist with OKC Miami and GSW.

You're skeptical of Salt yet you list Miami as a realistic option!?  :o

Only going of tweets tonight from reporters

all the national media is still saying it's down to Golden State and OKC.

The media is hyping up the possibility of him going to Golden State, because Durant forming a superteam there is an exciting concept that gets a lot of casuals to tune in and read their articles.  It's the most interesting narrative they can run with.

But I guarantee you the second he actually picks Golden State - they will completely vilify him and burn him alive for being anti-competitive.  All those same people saying he should go to Golden State so he can "win" will be saying that choosing Golden State was a pathetic move that will ruin his legacy.  Suddenly the narrative will all be about how Durant has no fire in him... how he's just piggybacking on one of the greatest teams ever that would win without him.   There will be thousands of tweets, blog posts, news segments and hot takes comparing what he did with LeBron.

And btw, what Durant is doing is 10x worse than what LeBron did.  The Heat were a 47 win team and they had to gut their roster to add him and Bosh.   Boston is a 48 win team that doesn't have to gut their roster to add Durant and Horford.     Golden State is a freakin 73 win team that came a bucket away from being back-to-back champions.   Pathetic choice if he does that - and he'll be crucified for it.

All it will do is turn LeBron into the savior... Everyone will be rooting for him to beat the Warriors again.

It's all about dem clicks, bout dem clicks, bout dem clicks...;D

Regardless of what happens, though, nothing can make Lebron 'the savior', lol, and I also think that we should refrain from calling the Warriors one of the best teams of all time.  In the regular season, sure, but they didn't win the title and blew a 3-1 lead despite having homecourt advantage.  I know that Curry was hurt, but they had plenty of depth to get it done, and yet still didn't, which is simply inexcusable, imo.

Btw, if Durant does go to Golden State, are their 'fans' going to be like -

;D.

That's why he's coming to Boston. No doubt about it now.
This circus about KD to GS is ridiculous. Everybody are trying to convince themselves that GS is the logical choice because they are the best team.

That's why I don't buy it. "national experts" have been saying GSW or OKC are the only 2 options for months. They are just hyping Golden State because it's ESPN's favorite team right now and it generates a strong reaction.

I don't see KD committing brand suicice. It's either OKC or Boston imo

If KD goes to the Warriors Id imagine they talk on an evil empire type of roll and lebron is left as the one man to stand in the way.

Durant doesn't strike me as a guy who is overly concerned about his brand. I think he legitamently just wants the best basketball decision. The issue is the national media is very influential as far as where that actually is.  Just shows Durant isn't that bright if he follows suit.  I don't follow the national media so much.

Trying to get athletes and people in general to see other viewpoints that are just as rational if not more so is more difficult than it seems.

Tommy point my friend. You deserve it for your reporting here this week.

Thanks man, I sent one back! But honestly it's not just me. Everyone's been doing a great job getting information here.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

This is by far the most active CB has been during my time here. The excitement is palpable here, and even without Durant, it is an incredible time to be a C's fan.

You are aware that Miami doesn't have the cap room to sign Durant, right?  They're over $4 million short, and that's assuming Wade walks.  The only way they can create room is to dump Josh McRoberts.  But that will cost a first round pick to do so, and Miami can't trade a pick until 2023.  And again, Dwyane Wade will not be on the Heat in such a scenario.

Unless they find someone who will take Chris Bosh, who's owed nearly $76 million over the next three years, and might never play another minute.  That's not happening either.

When Miami signed Whiteside, they took themselves out of the KD running this year, because they just can't make it work.  They're hopeful to set up a chance to get him next year, if they keep Wade and Bosh has his contract wiped out due to being ruled medically ineligible.  That's what today's meeting was about -- laying groundwork for a year from now.

Any reporter who suggests Miami has a snowball's chance on South Beach has zero clue what they're talking about.  Zero.  You should unfollow them on Twitter immediately, and mock their idiocy.  KD is not going to Miami this year, and probably not ever, except when wearing another team's jersey.

Jerry West is trying to sell Durant something as far as being a player who continuously fell short of winning a title.   GS is doing everything they can to do that but in the same regard we have the same selling point.  GS is much more strapped to their stars if they sign Durant.   We have much more flexibility that way plus star players. I can see Durant biting on that though.  Whether it's in Durants best interest is possibly something else.

I think coming here is in his best interest for similar but different reasons.  I think we are in just as good a position to set the tone in the nba if not moreso if we got Durant.

We are  a better situation than OKC that way.  We also aren't as strapped as GS will be with Durant.  That's pretty much it if he signs there.

Incarcerated Bob claims he knows which team Durant has chosen but is reluctant to tell it on twitter.
