The Hawks preferring Horford to Milsap makes no sense to me.

Might just be personal. Horford has been with the organization his entire career.

I don't think hey really do prefer him though.

Would you rather Horford for four or five years, or Milsap at one year?

Given their ages? Maybe Milsap for one.

It's not what I want that matters though. Atlanta has made it very clear that they're willing to lose Horford.
No they havent David Aldridge just said the Hawks could move Milsap if they wanted to, probably thinking about it right now.

I dont get it though isnt Millsap the better player? Also they just got Dwight this doesnt really make sense

If they really prefer Horford how about just sign him up first and then worry about trading Milsap later instead of putting yourself into a position where you have to let Horford walk unless you can find a home for Milsap on short notice?

I'm waiting for my apology, since you said I was being pessimistic last night...

I am dreadfully sorry for hurting your feelings.

Thank you. I'm used to you being dead wrong.

Why , did Horford decide to sign with anyone other than Boston yet? I don't see any information stating such, so why are you asking people for apologies already?

What are you talking about? He just said last night I was being pessimistic for no reason when it was pretty clear Horford was waiting on Atlanta, and still is. By the way, The Hawks just offered a fifth year and are offering more total dollars. I wasn't being pessimistic, I was being realistic. The link stating this is below.

It sounds like Atlanta getting desperate rather than Horford waiting on them.

It's pretty clear Atlanta is just pretending to try so that they can tell their fans that they tried. if they really wanted Horford they wouldn't have signed Howard and they would have offered 5 year max already. Trading Milsap after signing Howard and Bazemore just to keep Horford makes no sense whatsoever. Several people already posted this. Instead you are posting more of your opinions as facts just to take a shot at another poster. Come on dude, you are better than that.

Horford wife from Boston or he just met her here?

I don't know where they met, but she's from the DR/New York.

I feel like he's just waiting out Atlanta for the five year max. Eventually they will offer it to him and he will probably take it. He's already been offered the 4 year max by us so there is nothing else for him to wait on. The longer this decision drags out the less of a chance I believe we have.

I agree. Like I said, we're being Maverick'd.

They can't offer Horford the max and give Howard and Bazemore what they've promised.

The Atlanta Hawks cannot physically offer a 5 year max.As it is, they'd have to trade players for space to sign him to a remotely close contract.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but can't they just trade Milsap for wiggle room? They should have a slew of teams who can absorb his contract outright. Then it just comes down to the order the deals are signed in since they have full bird right on Horford and can go over cap?

They don't even need to trade Millsap if they don't want.  Just doing mental addition, but I'm fairly sure they only need to trade Splitter.  Millsap should get them value in return, however.

Ok, yes they could do that...but why? Millsap is so much better in my opinion. He was an absolute animal for them in the playoffs.
