Fortunately, the adults have prevailed.

Well hopefully this is a misdirection.

We don't need any more 2nd tier point guards or combo guards.

We need a real difference maker.

Bender is going to have a HOF Superstar career easy.

Too early in the evening to be that loaded, friend.
One has to imagine that that comment was a joke.

HOF Superstar career? easy? dear God have mercy.

I certainly laughed. But I've laughed at a LOT of the nonsense on here about the Euromistake.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Hey now, in his defense, I can see Kris Dunn making the HOF, too...at Providence ;D.

I don't necessarily disagree with the OP.

Only thing, is Danny, the master fleecer, has the potential to get a return in the next couple of hours that far surpasses what any guy we pick at #3 would do.

I think he's in sort of a Cuban Missile Crisis moment with Dunn at #3. I think he all but has to pick Dunn, unless one of the other top 8 teams makes a solid enough trade back offer.

Dunn, whether he gets traded as we are on the clock, or later tonight, is the third best player right now in the draft, and at the most coveted position, with a weak PG class behind him.

Our contingency plan could be to just keep Dunn, and then flip Smart to another top 8 team for their pick, whether it's Brown/Bender/Murray/Hield.

I wasn't sold on Dunn, but I'm starting to like his more rounded game over Smart. I think Smart is pretty close to his ceiling, and while he may be better than Dunn right now, i'd give it a year or two before Dunn pulls ahead stat-wise.

And if not, Dunn will be a Celtic and Smart is going bye bye.

The idea being to replace a guard who can't shoot with another guard who can't shoot?

On the chance maybe that Dunn will develop better and quicker than Smart; and possibly shoot better.

To be honest I like Hield, but I know he's a reach at 3.
Play to win.  Always.

LOL Great Sarcasm, your too funny. :)     Did you see how pathetic the clips were they showed of Bender?  Oh wait, he did not play much so there is not much tape.   I don't buy the play the old guys line of crap the ESPN stated.  Good players play, bad players sit.

Amen.  Now Ainge is 4 for 29 in not taking foreign players and 2 of 29 for players who did not play in the NCAA.

He's a KID playing in a professional league WITH MEN.

He's definitely raw but his ceiling is way higher than anyone the C's could have gotten with a the #3 pick.

Everyone thinks Europlayers are soft when they're not...they just know how to pass and hit an open jump shot.

Get ready for MORE ISO BALL with Jayless Brown.

LOL.

I do believe that Bender has higher upside.  However a lot of that is because of his packaging.  7'1, ability to close/guard multiple positions, lateral movement, advanced skills, vision, passing for his age.  That combination is very rare in a true 7 footer's body.

However, it's also true that Brown has something that Bender doesn't - elite athleticism and an NBA-ready body.  So if their upsides are comparable, Jaylen Brown could make an impact sooner.

We shall see, it is really going to be interesting to compare the two over the next 2-3 years.  If Bender becomes Porzingis 2.0, what would JB's comparison be?  Kahwi 2.0?

Even Kahwi didn't make an all-star appearance until his 5th season in the league, although he has been hyped/shown promise the past 2 seasons or so.  And Kahwi has always shown himself to be a good shooter even starting from his rookie season: 49.3% 2P, 37.6% 3P, 77.3% FT.

I feel like a more realistic comparison might be Tracy McGrady if Brown reaches his ceiling:
