On the upside, Noah is definitely a goner and would be a decent fallback signing for Ainge if nothing else develops.

And with Rose having only one more year on his deal (Lopez has three), the Knicks are clearly positioning themselves to completely blow it up after next season.

Trading an expiring declining player for future assets is exactly the sort of move a team rebuilding would do. I think they will keep Butler too but who the heck knows. All depends how much they value Dunn.

The noise about trading Butler was never about him or Rose, it was about whether they were comfortable building around Butler. Rose was always on the way out given how much he's declined.
