Kris Dunn is really the kicker if we trade it. The Bulls may really like him and see a star there. I'd prefer Marcus Smart over him.
The nets were also stupid to trade us that pick. They could really use Dunn. It's really the nets pick but we have it. In that regard the pick has value.
Dear lord, why, lol?
Because we have IT we don't need Dunn. Smart is more valuable to us as a compliment to IT because of his size and defense.
That's no reason to pass on Dunn, imo, especially because IT is already 27, and guys his size don't do well, historically, after 30. Also, without having nearly enough information on Bender, Dunn, to me, is the bpa at 3. He's already so much better than any of our guards and I'd trade all of them and start Kris from day one, but I realize that I'm in the minority, and maybe even alone, on this one, lol
.
The issue with this logic and the internets is we don't even know what the celtics are trying to do. There are reasons to pass on Dunn especially if Ainge is trying to put together a team around IT. Obviously if that doesn't work out Ainge would go another direction. He'd also go another direction if he can find a better one. But even still there are obviously reasons to pass on Dunn if Ainge can put something together he likes.
It doesn't work how a majority of the internet thinks. You don't make trades just because so and so is better. There is a much bigger picture involved as far as trying to do what is ultimately best for the celtics.
We may still select Dunn if we feel he is the bpa, but there aren't a ton of situations where it makes sense for us.
There are also agents involved. Teams that want certain players to build their teams around as well. It's why we are holding that card having the #3 pick.
I don't know what is best honestly because I can't fully see that board that Ainge has. I can only imagine what it looks like based on my own logic. It's a question if getting a veteran is a better option or even making the pick etc. If we can get Butler etc or something else. We don't know everything that is out there. I am of the belief that what is being reported is somewhat true, but it's not the full story.
I'm of the belief that there are reasons why Butler and guys like Horford are being targetted and it's to go with IT and ultimately hopefully Durant. If we can't put a team around IT he may ultimately go himself but we have Smart. We aren't even at that point yet.
It's the same with my post. You don't know what I fully think or how I mean everything. But I do know saying that's no reason to pass on Dunn is utterly absurd.
If we are trying to build our team around IT with Smart off the bench it is a reason to pass on Dunn.
If another team is trying to build around Dunn and wants to trade us something that fits us better it also is.
That is a good question though if we feel Dunn is bpa and he will actually come here do we still take him even if he doesn't fit us? I would say probably. I was thinking about this last night actually and would say yes but I don't know that.
I don't think we take him if there are other players we actually like though. It depends on what Ainge thinks on guys like Bender. I've heard he wasn't that impressed. Brown yes. I read this board a lot and all the news.
I feel like Dunn is good and a potential star, but I also have heard he doesn't want to play here. I don't know what the situation is there.
