I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He'll probably go mid first round, but definitely adds value to the Dallas pick.

Some question marks surrounding his toughness/bball IQ but he's got the body/skill set to be a good NBA player.

long term project.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Draft express analysis.
well, that was certainly underwhelming after the initial hype on him.  :P
Indeed. So much potential nonetheless. He probably thinks he could sneak in behind Simmons and Ingram. Hopefully NBA lets him stay and his rawness hold him back and we can get 1 of him Davis or Skal with our non nets pick.

At best he'll be Giannis 2.0. At worst he'll be Perry Jones III.

Yeah. I think he sucks as of right now. Great body, horrible BBIQ.

DX currently has him rated as the #44 prospect. Between Caris Lavert and Wayne Seldon. After a few YouTube highlights got him labeled the next KG a few years ago, they have been very actively advising folks to pump the brakes on his hype.  They've been saying for quite a while that he is not an elite prospect.

I'll be the fool who watches a few of his mixtapes (especially the Mic'd Up one) and says the obvious but ludicrous thing: KG. It looks like he's patterned himself after KG exactly like Kobe patterned himself after Jordan. Eerie. I don't yet want to read the latest DX article that has everyone down on him. I want to bask in this beautiful illusion for a few minutes, the idea that we could lose out on winning the lottery once again and once again get a KG, this time for a whole career. I would draft him #1. At least for the next two and a half minutes.

"Once considered a potentially transcendent prospect, mostly by uninformed voices based on his Youtube highlight reels"

LOL @ myself.  :'(

I cannot believe he's been as unimpressive as DX says. He looks like a freaking god in those highlight reels. I guess I would be a horrible scout back in the straight-from-HS days, lol.

That's what I meant about the KG comparo.  KG was far ahead of Maker skill wise.   .....I'm just talking about his KG in your face , let's fight , none stop motor ......

He definelty has the fight in him.....LOL ......if he can just play ball some too.....LOL

Both DraftExpress and NBA Draft Net have had him listed as a late first round pick in 2017.  Scouts were tough on his game after seeing him play last Spring.  Still, I don't see how he's not a high end prospect considering his size, athleticism, ball handling, and shooting.  The guy looks so much like KG.  With all our picks, I hope we get him.

Whether or not he's a top 5-10 guy any more (likely not barring an incredible combine and team workout), every addition to the draft increases its depth.  Even if he does not become a Celtic, with 8 picks, it's very possible he pushes down another player in the draft who does become a Celtic.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
One of the reasons the Cs have been so successful this year is because of their intensity. While other players may have more 'talent', we have been better. I don't know what the future holds for Maker, but with his size/measurables and tenaciousness, he should at least be able to carve out a role in this league.

That makes things more interesting and thank goodness for that because little in this draft was exciting me.

Is he any good?

Already a better shooter than giannis.
