If we can't trade for a star using the 4th pick I wouldn't be opposed to trading down around late lottery, and picking up a future first.

The Cs have alot of picks already. Why would you trade down for more of what we have? Take a player and hope he becomes an all star.

The chance of that future pick turning into a pick better than the 4th pick is pretty low, even if this is a relatively weak draft.

I like Prince and Luwawu a lot but I'd prefer to not draft for need.

I'd be OK with Murray in the top 5, though I can't help but wonder if he'll ever be as good as Hield appears to be now.


As for the other picks, I'm not really excited by any of the traditional power forwards in this draft, unless you count Ben Simmons as one.

I'd like to see the team pick up a wing or a center prospect in the late lottery / mid 1st and then go with foreigners from there on.

I echo the sentiments of others re: Luwawu.  I also like Hernangomez and Cornelie.

I think Davis will be a center in the NBA once he bulks up. He weighs 230 as a freshman, if he gains 20 lbs in a couple years then he's probably big enough to guard 5's.

More importantly he's a good athlete that can defend the rim and quick enough to be in good help position against guards/wings in the pick and roll.

If we're drafting a center prospect I either want a big guy who was statistically dominant in college (e.g. Poeltl, or later in the draft I suppose Diamond Stone), or a guy who has a lot of skill and could pose matchup problems (e.g. Sabonis).

After seeing that he has a 39.5 inch vertical I have a theory that Murray looks slow with the ball due to his handle not athleticism.

That's just one measure though. To me he looks slow to react and from moving side to side.  On a positive note...kid can shoot and he's very young.

I'm looking for rim protection from a center prospect, that's why I like Davis. I like Poeltl but he's going to be gone by that point.

If you believe this is relatively weak draft I wouldn't mind throwing more eggs into the basket for say next years draft.   Say you do this type of trade with a team like Denver you'll have a great chance at 2 lottery picks next year with good flexibility to move around.  Plus the 4th through 7th picks seem guard heavy and we have plenty of those.  Unless if Danny feels he wants to draft a Murray or Hield and move one of their current guards eventually.

Well, if he translates into the Pro Game---I can wear a wig.

I truly believe the basketball gods are going to smile upon the Green and give the Celtics either the first or second pick in this draft and they will hold onto that pick and take either Simmons or Ingram and one of those two players will be the next Paul Pierce, Reggie Lewis, Kevin McHale, Larry Bird, Dave Cowens, Jo Jo White, John Havlicek, life time or so Celtics of lore.

But if that doesn't happen I want the Celtics to trade these picks to the Clippers for Blake Griffin. Adding an offensive force like Griffin, who I think would excel as Boston's #1 offensive option, would show free agents that the Celtics are serious about winning now and adding elite talent for a championship run. Maybe that makes Durant think about coming here. Or maybe Al Horford. Or maybe both.

After that, if the C's have to use their picks, I say use the Nets pick on Buddy Hield, use the Mavs pick on Denzel Valentine, use the Celtics pick on Jeanne and stash him for a couple years. This draft would then necessitate the Celtics trading away a couple young guard prospects, like Young and Hunter. That doesn't bother me as I think Valentine and Hield are massive upgrades over both players. It would also necessitate having to use free agency to upgrade the frontcourt and add some scoring there. Basically this is the scenario I least want to unfold for Boston

 Here is the argument for Murray, I was very against it in the beginning of the season.

 I am for drafting Buddy Hield. He would add a lot to the Celtics and he avg 7.8 ppg on .238% From three

 No guarantees Murray develops like Hield did, but hes already avg 20ppg on .408 3p%.

 Hieldas a senior avg 25.4ppg on .465 3p% which is awesome. Murray is also already better with the ball in his hands and is a slightly better athlete.

I think he has by far the most upside of anyone that is theoretically going to be available in that spot.  And it isn't like Davis isn't a project.  That selection I believe Boston is going to take a big man project, Skal rates out by as the best one of those maybe in the entire draft.  There is a reason Skal was the projected #2 pick.  I also know there is a reason he has fallen, but the talent is clearly there.  That is the exact type of pick Boston should make with its 2nd lotter pick

I still say that Danny needs to Hire someone who actually knows how to evaluate young players...cause Danny is not good at it....If we use our picks, we'll be sorry once again---after Danny passes up the next Rodney Hood, Draymond Green, etc.
